Paprika's soundtrack was always an enigma for me, that sound getting stuck on repeat in my mind for hours. Finding an album of that for an hour but better was a treat.
Sporting an abundance of creativity, lush and abrasive sounds pinned next to each other, and personal, honest, and remarkably vulnerable lyricism, this is contending to be Tyler's best in his catalogue.
Standouts - Darling,I - NOID - St. Chroma - Tomorrow - Take Your Mask Off - Like Him
Seems like it'll definitely be a grower. Rating for archival purposes. As of now the tracks felt a bit too stripped back to latch onto on a first couple listens.
Really great Jazz fusion tracks; some erring more to the jazz style. Put this on as I was doing some work and felt like background music done in a really great way. The features were a call for attention while listening, Mick Jenkins standing out for me in particular amongst the two giants that are Samuel T. Herring and Charlotte Day Wilson.
This record is exactly what comes to mind when I think of the folk genre. Some ronky tonk ass harmonica and some dude talking about random shit but it's probably some deep story that'll go over my head until I listen to it for the 15th time with the lyrics out in a year. Yeah I really like this one, it feels like Dylan's most ambitious that I heard. It's phenomenal, but damn I feel the fatigue set in at about Just Like a Woman.
80 -> 90
falters a bit in the second half; regardless, still a beautiful piece of work that exhibits a youthful summer feel that is tough to get right.
A very similar experience to Low with it's two contrasting sides. Felt that this record did the first half better, while I preferred the second half of Low. Both are phenomenal.
Not at all what I expected - This was under Shoegaze on AM but I was pleasantly surprised with what I got.
