Some decent tracks here and there, but generally an underwhelming release from Kray unfortunately
A swirling, mind-bending mess of a project, but one you undoubtedly have to hear. Slaywitme swings for the fences and ends up with a mixed bag of results, but I thoroughly appreciate the effort at this sound, which is really pushing the current rage wave in an entirely new direction
Some of the highest highs in his whole discography can be found here, but overall, way too inconsistent to be his best.
Very very inconsistent, doesn’t hit the highs of his debut mixtape, kinda underwhelming
Starts off pretty well with a nice run of tracks and then nosedives from there. You have a pretty low ceiling when you genuinely write the same song 15 times in a row. The guy’s got a great voice, he really does, but the themes bore me to tears, and those pitched up chipmunk vocals do absolutely nothing for me
A little unfinished, but some great ideas and excellent production. Nice little segue between full length efforts for MIKE
Completely forgettable raps, “WANT ME SOME…” is a solid track but outside of that I don’t see much point to this EP
Starts off strong but quickly slides down. Some great beats from Craven and solid verses from Fahim, but they often don’t fit together all that well.
This album is so close to being perfect perfect. Woods and ELUCID drop some of the best verses of their careers, the beats are impeccable, the features perfectly chosen. Everything just comes together so well, and if not for one or two weaker moments within tracks (because there’s no weak full tracks), this would be a 10 for me.
I’ve seen recently a wave of online negativity towards the production on here, but I’ve never understood that. It’s definitely The Alchemist’s most adventurous batch of beats, and I think they all fit perfectly with the verses of billy woods and ELUCID. I don’t even need to go into the writing on here, it’s so moving, so poignant and so engaging throughout, and delivered in such a clear, concise and catchy fashion. This album is pretty much perfect, I have ... read more
Very nice very smooth very enjoyable. Not much else to say to be honest. Felt like the second track dragged a bit but for the most part the album flew by. Mellow but impactful.
So many classic tracks on here, amazing production and great verses from Rocky. There’s a couple dull moments but overall still very good.
Very straightforward stuff here done very very well. Menacing flows, well-crafted verses and jazzy beats. What’s not to like?
I think a lot of the most forward pushing rap music this decade has managed to perfectly toe the line between being challenging and being rewarding, and Departure’s latest album exemplifies this to the nth degree. The verses, delivered in a tone and style clearly influenced by R.A.P. Ferreira, among others, still feel unique and fresh to Departure, and they are so dense with hidden meanings and witty references it’s impossible to ever catch every single one. And that’s the ... read more
Yeah this is a solid one from Gunn, but nothing special I won’t lie. “MkQueensDead” is a great intro with this fantastic, triumphant instrumental and a grimy Keisha Plum feature. But that’s about it for me, I won’t really be going back to anything else here. A decent start to one of the very best series in the genre’s history, but nothing to write home about.
Pretty solid EP from MIKE here, not reinventing the wheel or anything like that but four solid tracks, with some really great beats too on “HURDLES” and “GOD’S WITH ME” in particular. Decent.
Pretty disappointing tbh. A lot of these tracks feel like half baked ideas that were released too soon. Underwhelming batch of beats, where a good chunk of them were mixed puzzlingly low. And the vocals just feel like Katozai attempting to match his contemporaries but falling short. Not great.
