apart from that amazing bassline, nothing really happens in this song. especially the first half is just the same thing twice. still a bop, but not the banger I hoped for
this sounds like a song released 20 years ago that makes you feel nostalgic for when you heard it on the radio as a kid
coming from the live version this could have been a good alt rock tune, but unfortunately this turned out to be very overproduced.
Edit: maybe I was a bit harsh, the riff still slaps. I don’t like the production quirks and I think it lacks the soul of the Muse era it tries to emulate.
they should have released this as a propper album with interludes between the song pairs that act as transitions from one sound to the next.
musikalisch gelungen, die lyrics sind mir jedoch manchmal zu plump. fav: so ein brett
metrosexual, performative male, female gaze whatever you call it. curated aesthetics, tote bags, vulnerability. when it opens it’s mouth you see that at the core it’s just a horny straight guy.
the title track is interesting, at least it stands out but the rest kinda blends into one big nothing. OneManMilitia is another highlight, or would be, if it wasn’t so damn short. Makes the whole album feel incomplete.
The tunes are nice but the weird transitions make the experience much less enjoyable
A lost classic, and I am by far not the first one to point that out.
Time flies when I‘m listening to this and Country isn’t normally something I tend to listen to. No Other is a top 100 track.
Lowlights: Marlboro Mann, Fallen in Liebe
A perfect record for the cold season, a great mix between dancable bangers and moody ballads. Amazing instumentation and one of the best examples of how to use interludes! 10/10
I really wanted to love this but the house parts don’t do anything for me and many of the pop cuts are straight up boring. My Old Ways is really good though
