This is simply a great album, Morrissey still crushes it solo
Alsation cousin isn't entirely my cup of tea but the minor jumps are so good.
Everyday Is Like Sunday is simply legendary, the grand orchestral sound suits his voice amazingly as it does on some of the smiths best tracks. The uplifting melancholy is what makes many a morrissey song great.
The next song is immediately one of the highlights for me, a song i hadn't hear before. Bengali In Platforms is a sweet, dainty ... read more
Went into a record store near Paris specifically to find an Indochine album. Looked all over the pop section, couldn't find it. Asked the storeowner if he had any Indochine, he walked towards the french section (i assumed it was only chansons in there and the like). He looked for the i for Indochine and said "Don't have any", but I knew from the other sections I'd checked that they were hardly in alphabetical order. Looked myself and there it was, Le Peril Jaune. I was ... read more
I mean it starts off with Pass The Dutchie, how bad can it be? It isn't, there's actually more great reggae tracks on here. That's what real jamaican production can do. Heartbreaker is a solid tune, and Blind Boy has such nice synths. There's even some ska on here. The B-side doesn't disappoint either, Young Generation is another clean reggae tune.
High octane 80s synthpop right from the start, Why? Immediately makes me get into it. The vocals on this album are so unique. You might expect the album to continue with this energy, but no, the second track is a noir, bossa nova kind of vibe. It somehow reminds me of the Doors or something, It Aint Necessarily So is great track.
After that great song you get pulled into Miami Vice. Screaming also feels very polished, but distinct from the other tracks. Gotta say the same about No More ... read more
Apparently this is one of the worst albums of 2008, that idea doesn't resonate with me at all. We Cry and Before Our Worst are really nice soft pop tracks. Not sure what the bad ratings are based on. Sunday, sun is shining, having some tea, this album is a great soundtrack to my morning. The Man Who Can't Be Moved and especially Breakeven are just great songs. Rusty Halo ain't bad either
Love the sound of the A-side with Bent Cold Sidewalk first.
Perfect prog rock electronic blend at the start. Adore the pan flute kind of asian influenced sound, which morphs into something that seems to be hunting you, a bit like Tubular Bells.
Wishing Well is probably my top song for 2020, so this album was a must have for me. I really quite dig the emo style compared to tearout rap so to speak. Conversations is a real good opening track, the beat is real clean. I like the vocal melody, the deep minor drop, in Righteous. Hate The Other Side is a cool track too
Feed Me will forever be on of my favourite EDM artists
Death By Robot is my first highlight, the nostalgia, the electro sound like only Jon does it, just a banger. Love the vocals too. Ebb & Flow is my next favourite, the track in between is good too but this one is just filthy. Rat Trap, as the name suggests, is a trap track that also bangs.
The C-side is great but is dominated by Ophelia. Don't like the last part that much but the start is so good, might name a kid after this ... read more
Hmm the second album, i absolutely adore The Lexicon Of Love but these ratings make me wary. The first song really is thirteen in a dozen like we say in holland, as in not special at all. I thought well that's it, this album is gonna suck. But that wasn't the case.
The second song Love's A Dangerous Game has all the elements i love about ABC. A melody that makes you perk up, almost a bit conniving. Add to that a sweet 3/4 walzy part and it's a track i like. The next song ... read more
Some of my favourite reggae tunes on here, Protection is a great one to start it off. I can't imagine the A-side being topped, Who Knows has got to be one of the best on here too.
Stylin on the b-side has some great bass and i always like a talkbox. Sudden Flight is the last highlight
Funnily enough i didn't know this album would be so African influenced, even though it's pretty obvious knowing You Can Call Me Al so well, and i somehow didn't realise Homeless was on here or connected the dots.
The Boy In The Bubble immediately puts you in a great mood, but the album really gets better every track for the first few. Graceland needs no review, but I Know What I Know and even more so Gumboots are unexpected highlights. Love that sax
The A-side enchanted me more than the ... read more
Weird how her breakthrough, critically acclaimed album isn't on here yet. It's a smooth listen with Down To Zero as the highlight, but it's not really my style. I just happen to own the vinyl.
The A-side is so dreamy, really good if you skip the first track haha. Especially A Pillow Of Winds is great, and the jazz elements in the other songs.
"If this town is just an apple then let me take a bite"
For some reason Human Nature was stuck in my brain today. When i saw it was on Thriller I remembered I own the record but have never reviewed it. Yeah what can I say it's banger after banger.
Wanna Be Startin' Something is an all time classic, but it gets overclassed in my opinion by Baby Be Mine. I think Thriller (song) really benefits from me hardly ever listening to michael jackson in general. I was afraid it would still be ... read more
Totally forgot i preordered this album. Adore the coldwave/darkwave influences Ultra Sunn employs. My favourite track of theirs is Two Snakes, hope this album has a track like that.
You & Me has everything i like about Ultra Sunn, thick bass, melancholic and futuristic synths, great track. Some mortal combat vibes in there. The next track Lost & Found is simple but it works for me, same for The Truth
Kraftwerk does what it does best on this album, continuing their iconic sound with some new elements. Pocket Calculator and Computer World 2 are the highlights on the A-side, but i'm hoping for a banger like Das Model or something.
The B-side starts with maybe the best track on the album, Computer Love. This is one of the things i love about listening to vinyl/albums, recognising a sample totally unexpectedly. That's a melody Coldplay borrowed for sure haha. Its More Fun To Compute is a ... read more
"Not to be overly dramatic"
This album feels so close but yet so far, like someone whispering to you from a mile away with perfect clarity.
Never Meant is simply exquisite, the novel time signature, the jangly guitars, absolutely lovely. Like so many this is the reason i bought the record, all other songs are new to me.
Summer Ends is fragile and dainty in a good way, while the next track explores more robust musical ideas. I'm noticing that this album seems to be everything i ... read more
Rusko's first album starts of with one of the legendary dubstep tracks of all time, Wooooo Booooost. Hold On and Rubabub Shakedown make the A side exquisite if you like this type of dubstep. Call My Number is good as well, the other songs on the B-side not so much. The jungle tune has a great buildup but just lacks elements afterwards. Actually, all intros are great on this side but overall a bit lackluster. The C-side starts great again, Scareware hits all the beats, but then it's average ... read more
