Very good album, but it's not as great as some people say. ScHoolboy Q has a nice voice for sure; I like his energetic delivery, but I also have problems with the lyrics and the inconsistent production. though. Still, I don't think there are any bad songs. But there weren't as many amazing ones. Collard Greens is a legendary song though. For whatever reason, this album just feels like it's longer than an hour. The lyrics and chorus just get a bit repetitive from time to ... read more
I don't know why I didn't choose to listen to this mixtape sooner. This was amazing. I was surprised by how good each song was. Joey Bada$$ has got amazing flows for sure, but the standout for me was how flawless the production was. It gives a good balance between old-school and modern boom-bap, with some pretty good stories. There's not really a lot to complain about on this mixtape. Maybe besides the fact that the outro track is pretty scratched. I'm not the biggest fan of ... read more
I mean, it's MUSIC. This is the end of my Carti deep dive. Too bad it ends on a mid-note with this album. I'm not a huge Carti fan at all, but I feel bad for the die-hard Carti fans who waited over 4 years since its leak, just for the album to be bloated, unorganized, and unpolished. Why in the world does it have to be 30 songs? Comparing something like this to his WLR album, at least the production and vibes brought some hype tracks to an extent where the album wouldn't feel ... read more
Another solid album from J Cole. Comparing this to the only other album I've listened to of his so far. In terms of storytelling, this one does the job way better. The flow scheme on this album is overall smoother in my opinion, along with the jazzy atmospheric production. But I feel like most of the songs don't have the same impact as in 2014 FHD. I feel like that album just had a better vibe than this one, but I kind of understand, since this one is meant to be taken more seriously. ... read more
Seeing the tracklist was over 24 tracks long, I thought this album would've been bloated and boring, but it was actually good. While it is a bit bloated and stretched out, it's not boring. The rage trap production style fits for something like this, bringing fun and hype tracks as always from Carti, but his lyrics feel way more repetitive compared to his other projects, and some squeaky vocals don't sound the best. Still, I think most of the songs sound good. I just wish this ... read more
