Earl Sweatshirt - Live Laugh Love
74

You can say whatever you want, but I really think the “Unc” persona Earl took on this project is really good. I mean, it looks very warm and inviting – especially with the vintage yellow-tinted album cover. I think it represents the sound of this album quite well.

The beats on this album are amazing – well-crafted, psychedelic and rich with a tinge of jazz flavours. Although at times some songs could’ve been extended, because I had the feeling they served more of ... read more

ROSALÍA - LUX
69

This is the first album by ROSALÍA that I have ever listened to, so I immediately had an open mind about what this album might present.

The biggest strength of this album is the performance. Every artist that was involved in this project played the instruments on top of their possibilities – and it shows. The violins and strings are lush, the choirs sound dramatic, everything is so massive and ambitious. It’s crystal clear that ROSALÍA wanted to create music ... read more

Racing Mount Pleasant - Racing Mount Pleasant

Listening to this album in its entirety was an incredible experience. It's rare for me to find albums that grab me from the very first seconds, that click instantly, and this album did just that.

The soundscapes are so melancholic and immersive, it’s hard not to get lost in the comforting bittersweetness this record has to offer. Through lush, progressive songs with saxophone solos, orchestral, atmospheric climaxes and rich instrumentation and stripped down, soft and quiet ones, the ... read more

Thanks for another recommendation @PieceOfMulch!

So, this is an sophomore album from PieceOfMulch that goes pretty much in the same direction as its predecessor.

I really like how this album is more polished and better mixed than the previous one. It really made the listening experience better.

Death Of A Friend is my favourite song off of this album. From the start, the organ sounds like it's anticipating the ending - which is perfect for an outro. I really like how the piano part ... read more

worldsnotfound - Asphalt Lamps

An very enigmatic track that's extremely catchy at the same time. There's so much going on in the 5 minute running time. It's abrasive and chaotic, but it works with the tracks energy very well. It feels like a bomb that's about to explode - unpredictable and crazy. Although there was a part that I thought could've been tamer, because at one time it got too chaotic for its own good, but other than that I think it's an great single.

PieceOfMulch - Eggs, Garlic, Beets, and Parsley

Thanks for the recommendation @PieceOfMulch!

"Eggs, Garlic, Beets, and Parsley" is an album that combines ambient, lush soundscapes with psychedelia and drone. Experimental music is something I have always loved, mostly because I like when artists take risks and go off-grid, creating a non-formulaic experience.

That being said, I think this album showcases great ambition and possibilities, especially considering it is a debut.

Tame Impala - Dracula

This song is a step-up in quality, especially considering that I wasn’t a fan of his previous singles.

On Dracula, Tame Impala ventures into disco inspired, dance pop territories and I can say it's a move that paid off. The song is more concise than End Of Summer, which was one of my complaints about the single. It's also much more interesting than Loser, which I found boring and a miss in Parker's discography. Meanwhile this song isn't amazing, it's very groovy ... read more

Tame Impala - Loser

This is such a... nothing burger

So, my review of Tame Impala's previous single wasn't very favourable towards the song. I found it too long and generic, but I still had hopes towards the whole project. My expectations weren't low, but I at least hoped for a decent follow-up single/album. Well, now I don't have any expectations. That riff is so boring and uninspired. Literally no progression throughout the enitre song. Tame Impala writes the same song for the 100th time. ... read more

Thanks for the recommendation @dawgebredd!

So, when I saw the genres assigned to this work, I was very much interested in discovering the sound that this album was presenting. EBM is a name I heard for the first time in my life.

I like the way songs intertwine industrial grit and noise with catchy drums and hooks. Like "Shitfaced Bastard", that has that arpeggiated pluck going on along with the rising industrial synths. This song really pleased me.

The atmosphere is executed very ... read more

Deftones - Adrenaline
72

Probably the most straightforward album from Deftones. When they released this album, Nu Metal was only just getting mainstream attention, Korn's self-titled debut, characterised by aggressive, raw sounds and self-loathing lyrics was released just a year before Adrenaline. It's no surprise why the band tried to show their potential through recording music in a genre that brought a new, fresh perspective onto metal.

As for the overall album, we can see that the band tried to get ... read more

Deftones - private music

So, to say I'm late would be an understatement, because I completely forgot about this album. Through the singles that were released during the roll-out I couldn't wait to finally listen to the whole product when it was released. I checked their spotify every day so I wouldn't forget about this release. So when the album came out... I forgot. Recently, when I had nothing to listen to, I remembered that this album existed and had already come out, so why not finally listen to it? ... read more

Deftones - milk of the madonna

I think I like it more than my mind is a mountain. It's longer, which was my only complain about the previous single. The production is top tier, it's heavy and dirty, yet very dreamy too. I fully believe the upcoming album will be peak Deftones

Arctic Monkeys - The Car
72

On The Car the band changed its sound to soft chamber/art pop direction. The whole thing is heavy on violins, strings and an overall quiet yet atmospheric feeling. Instrumentals on this record are amazing, but what sometimes holds them down is Turner's vocal delivery who tries to hit higher notes, with mixed result. Every song flow great with each other, it's a very relaxing and laidback listen, especially considering how energetic their records can get. If the band continued making ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino
83

The most interesting sounding album of the band, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino is a significant leap in quality from AM in every way. On this record, the band attemps to make their first concept album that's firmly grounded to a one idea. The titular Tranquility Base refers to the real-world lunar landing site of Apollo 11, then Alex reimagines it as a luxurious hotel with casino and tells it's story through pepole like receptionist introduced in the title track. His lyrics ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - AM

So, I have a whole lot of nostalgia with this one. I used to bump the whole thing practically everywhere on my headphones, ignoring the entire world. And since I haven't listened to it for a while now (How much can you listen to one album over and over again) plus now I'm rating Arctic Monkeys whole discography, it's a perfect time to revisit the album I have so much good memories with. While relistening, I felt like I had to listen to a different album back then, cause ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See
60

Well, it's okay. It's nothing outstanding in particular, but it's still an alright work in their discography. The instrumentals could've been better, but they're fine. Lyrics from Turner are really all over the place, sometimes at their usual level and sometimes diabolical (I was so weirded out by Brick by Brick). There are some bops, like "Don't Sit Cause I've Moved Your Chair" but other than that it's just exists. For a band that's ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Humbug
92

My favourite album from the Monkeys, Humbug shows them at their artistic peak that's coming with an psychedelic/stoner departure from their usual garage rock style that somehow works and sounds like they had played this style since the beggining of their career. The instrumentals are darker and deeper, with an almost spooky atmosphere that's created with unique tone on guitars, organs, distinct drum patterns, and Turner's hushed vocals. Overall it's more relaxed than their ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
90

Arctic Monkeys second studio album "Favourite Worst Nighmare" shows that the band was still trying to find an sound that would make them stand out from their contemporaries of Indie Rock, releasing an album that's more ambitious in its soundscapes than its predecessor. Although the spirit of their debut is still there, the band incorporates ambient sounds and expands their drum rhytms. Their delivery on this LP is definetly polished, the production is heavier and cleaner, yet the ... read more

Cardiacs - Woodeneye
80

Well, to say I wasn't anticipating a new Cardiacs song would be an understatement, because I doubted they would release anything at this point, especially since Tim Smith's condition, which had made it impossible for him to record anything and due to his heartbreaking passing in 2020. So I was pretty shocked to find "Woodeneye" in my recommendations. The song has their usual quirkiness, which is a great thing because it's the thing that makes them stand out from their ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
87

Arctic Monkeys debut album is their most energetic work in their entire discography. It is characterised by fun grooves, faster percussion and a generally very danceable feel, although there are also tracks that sound very nostalgic. The songs are rather short, averaging at 2.30, but their length works in favour for them - it gives the band space to experiment at various kinds of sounds without limiting themselves with creating long tracks. The whole thing is stacked with bops that will make ... read more

"@hogeqmain Thank you! The thought that this album is essentially a celebration of life actually occurred to me recently while listening to "Reckoner," specifically the bridge, which inspired me and made me realize that this album has been with me my entire life, so I wrote about my experience in my review. It's nice to see someone agrees with me :)"

"I'm so glad I could motivate you with my review :) I could sense that you're still figuring out things on the vocal delivery and flow - after all, it's your second song. Honestly, keep going! You certainly have the potential to publish even more high-quality works, especially since you listen to criticism with an open mind and really take it to heart."
On yonn's review of Myslovitz - Korova Milky Bar
"It’s so nice to see how much love this album gets outside Poland :) The comments are depressing since the lyrical content is quite heavy, so you are right about the language barrier. Also, the album was on streaming for a short amount of time this year, but it got taken down for unknown reasons. The band already announced a reissue, calling the one on streaming a “butchered” version in terms of tracklist and audio quality. They were pretty much right, since some of the songs, such as “Chciałbym umrzeć z miłości”, weren’t available back then. Right now, there’s no news from them, though."

"No problem ;) I'll definetly check out your earlier stuff in the future! Also, don't dismiss your work as some teenage maximalistc project as you put it, since it's clear you guys created this work because you are passionate about it. Every artist has rough stages early into their career, but it shows that you're constantly learning and evolving into something unique! :)"

"Well, it will be definitely a interesting album! I really like witch house, so I'll give your vision on it a try once the albums comes out. I would also say the field recording detail is fine, it's just too loud and in your face, but I've seen on the other review you already know about it haha"
