Well, it's... ok I guess. I didn't enjoy it as much as someone from this era probably would. Maybe it'll grow on me. Some of the riffs are good, but overall it's very stale. It's like that feeling of "I know this is a great piece of work, but I'm not feeling it". 🏠
Didn’t survive this for that long on first listen. I fucking love experimentation and even this is just a mess. First reaction, not enjoyable. But hey, I can always change my mind, who knows. I really want to study this album because after all its interesting af. 🐟

Have this on vinyl, an old copy from my grandmother. On first listen, my father was right beside me, I just went "wtf how is this from 1967? This is so ahead of its time" 🪲
I'm still mesmerized by how this is something that even exists. Yeah, I'm a basic bitch. I would marry this guy's voice. Each track carries so much emotion that it feels hard for the album itself to carry it, or for the listener to comprehend. Each word, each phrase, vocal inflection, and production decision feels so carefully delivered and at the same time so raw. Man, fuck it, I just want Frank to come back with another joint. 🌱

Ok, I'm listening to this and writing at the same time, cause although I think this album is super overrated I want to give it an opportunity for the 5th time:
DARK FANTASY: this song is polarizing for me. The beat switches feel out of place. Some of the gospel vocals as well (some of the layers just feel ugly but overall they're pretty good and give you chills). Then the music seems to end, but suddenly the vocals come back. I'm taking part in a daunting experience throughout the listen, filling in pieces of a puzzle with my voice, humming through the melodies. But the expectations were too high for what it is right now for me.
There are albums out there that accomplished what I think this project is trying to do with much more impact.
Maybe I just don't understand it fully. Perhaps it'll grow on me eventually ☑️
I regret not giving this a "no distractions" first listen, cause it impacted my first opinions on it. So unexpected from Tyler, one of the best albums I've listened until now. 🍬
