A mediocre radio friendly album with some good tracks here and there.
A great modern album that excells expectations over the previous installment, through many factors.
A very fun, raw, and relaxing ride from start to finish with great features and production.
CAUTION: This is a REALLY long review, so if you just want the whole thing summarized, then go to the last paragraph. By the way, most of these paragraphs are just track reviews and not for the album as a whole. Hope you enjoy! :D
Just 3 tracks in and we already have a perfect track in this huge lengthy album that is Random Access Memories. "Giorgio by Moroder" is a synth-pop masterpiece that mixes the interview-type audio of Giorgio Moroder, an Italian composer and producer that ... read more
This album is the definition of a mixed bag between great tracks and mediocre trap tracks that could fit on Birds In the Trap or even Metro's new album, which was mediocre to say the least. As much I can say there are really good tracks on here that deserve an 8/10 or higher, like the openers "We Don't Trust You", the Weeknd featured track "Young Metro", and especially the hard and furious "Like That" with a wonderful Kendrick Lamar feature that started ... read more
This album is something that most hip-hop albums really struggle with. It's not the rhyming scheme or production, sometimes people could be on-par to the stuff that is on here, like maybe Mobb Deep or a lot of the stuff on Illmatic. The one unique thing that makes this stand out compared to other hip-hop or even Doom or Madlib projects --- it's surprisingly raw. Yes, you heard me. Thanks to the really small budget that they used to make this album, it felt raw, like the polished-ness ... read more
Even though, this album is heavily regarded as Kendrick's worst album, they are both right and wrong, but a little right. You see, this album, unlike other Kendrick albums is kind of like Tyler The Creator's new album. It lays back on the emotional and heartfelt feeling that his previous album gave us and goes full dance mode, comparing MR. Morale to GNX is listening to the transition between Like Him and Balloon on Chromakopia, it goes from serious and sad to happy and joyful.
So, ... read more
This album is actually really good, contrary to Anthony Fantano's beliefs.
As the album after his high point in an album, To Pimp a Butterfly, this album normally gets overshadowed in the mix as a 'weird transitional album in the mix between TPAB and Mr. Morale', but this album is something much more than that. Yes, this album is flawed with some tracks that can be questionable at times, like the opener "BLOOD.", but there are some genuinely good tracks that also get ... read more
This album is many things, rough, heartwarming and mostly depressing, and they all work. There are many songs on this album that can be unironically hung up in an art museum on how unique, stylistic, experimental, and wonderful they sound.
Take "Paranoid Android" for example, it has a weirdly acoustic "guitar opera" opening, kind of like "Never Going Back Again" off of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, and then the next bit comes and it changes up a bit, now there ... read more
Just from the opener, you know it is a horrendous record just from the first track. This album is so bad, that dare I say, this is not Metallica. This sounds like Results May Vary and their unreleased work on crack, and the snare sound reflects how crazy stupid this album. This snare sounds like Lars forgot to turn on the snare and left it on halfway, which makes it sound like a newborn infant cracking their skull open. There is a reason why this is the only nu metal record that they made, ... read more
The album starts off strong with the powerful lead single Fuel, and is then followed by the good track The Memory Remains, with a great feature from the 50-years old Marianne Faithfull, a wonderful rock and roll star that sadly passed away earlier this year, but I sadly can't take this song seriously because of the "Kirk is gay, Robert's gay, Lars is gay, but the gayest is JAAAMMESS!"
It's followed up by the okay track Devil's Dance, which feels a little ... read more
This is a great hard rock album with some filler tracks here and there with some questionable stuff, but I do agree it is a little overhated. The first half is solid, with some amazing hard rock hits like Ain't My Bitch and especially King Nothing and Until It Sleeps.
But oh my goodness, I have never seen a drop in quality much like transition between the great Bleeding Me and the filler track named Cure, and then it's followed by Poor Twisted Me which I agree that the voice effect ... read more
What the heck was she thinking!? If this plays at my funeral, people would wish they were dead.
A musical explosion in emotional rap after a five year long hiatus. What a joyride.
A huge step up from their debut, and their first amazing record so far.
