I am not afraid to say this is the worst Beatles album, because it is not even an album, it is some pre-exisiting, with some originals, and the soundtrack for the movie, overall, not a good ride.
The true sign that the Beatles would be significant. If Yesterday was the closing track, it would have been way higher, too bad that they used a crappy cover for it instead.
Great debut, but nothing compared to their later stuff. It is quite a mixed bag.
Truly a perfect rock record in Billy's collection. I am proud to own this on Japanese vinyl.
This new single from Charli xcx may or may not be hinting a whole new era for her, and I like it.
Charli, after a tremendous perfect recrod, decides to get a new, more psychedelic approach with this single, Chains of Love, which takes inspiration from the electronic works of Aphex Twin and the psychedelic works of Kate Bush. I will be looking forward to this album.
Just from the first track, this album is more psychedelic and relaxing compared to other works, such as the Plastic Ono Band album that came out that same year. “I’d Have You Anytime” is a lukewarm guitar ballad about love with a hell-of-a-lot of reverbs. I’m already impressed by the first track; that’s how you know it’s good.
I was right, for the most part, because the next song is a Christian anthem about worshipping God. “My Sweet Lord” ... read more
After seeing Mic The Snare’s DDD on The Beatles, I kind of want to expand it out a bit and try to review some Beatles solo material, and I have heard that this is a major starting point for Beatles fans that want to see solo material, so I checked the album out and listened to it. Also, disclaimer, this review is pretty long because I wanted to do a track-by-track review of this album. I hope you enjoy it.
This album starts off hard. The opener “Mother” is a great track with ... read more
This album is basically the equivalent of Nirvana’s “In Utero”, and they have a lot in common. Like this is commonly described as a hugely emotional and depressing project after their happy go lucky record beforehand, with heavy drums and distortion, which weigh down the album’s score. There are also some ballads like “No Other One” and “Across The Sea”, the same as the ones from the blue album but they have the same elements as all the other ... read more
Prior to reviewing this album, I actually listened to it a few times in full, but never reviewed it confidentally.
Other than that, yeah, it is basically a perfect indie album. Good job.
Best - Only In Dreams
Worst - In The Garage
Overall - 95/100
This album is experimental in its roots, with some tracks having strange elements that could just work but might never be done again in an electronic record, that’s how experimental this record is, and I love it for that. This record could feel like many records, like Ray of Light or even some Pharrell-produced Gwen Stefani records. The last track has the most questionable production choices that makes it feel like an Egyptian Bollywood movie, and the melody sounds like Cry Me a ... read more
This album is by far Gorillaz’ best album and it isn’t even close. Demon Days was great but was flawed with mediocre tracks here and there. There are fewer mediocre tacks here but you could still sense them.
The production sound modern and for the time, and the singles are great as well. There are also hidden gems here and there, like “Sweepskates”. No wonder the band’s best album is not actually the band, they are just robots for this album, and yet, it’s ... read more
This album is the quintessential disco album, not the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, or even Thriller. If you say disco, this is the 1st album I would think of. The songs on it are bangers, and it starts off with the assertive-apocolyptic song, Let’s Go Crazy and ending with one of the greatest ballads to hit an album, with glorious guitars and heart wrenching lyrics.
Not to mention, the singles were great. When Doves Cry is also a heart-wrenching bass-less ballad about separation and ... read more
This album is perfect. No skips, no anything. Every song absolutely bangs, sometimes literally. I have no problems with this album. They could play this whole album in the club all the time, every night, and I wouldn’t get sick of it. The production is stellar and very disco, which makes sense because another famous disco album, Thriller, also came out this year, except this disco album didn’t get 70 million copies and is not the most sold album of all time, it’s probably not ... read more
This album is basically a flawless 60’s rock record with some boring parts here and there to give it more length. But if those parts were added in, it would probably be an EP. The opener starts this album with a big punch to the face with loud ass instruments with wonderful production put on them. The rest is great, especially the ending, it’s like it knew what the opener opened the album with, and tried to do the glorious moment again, and it worked.
There are only two problems ... read more
