EDIT: Fuck it, giving this a 100, idc I absolutely love this thing and I've been listening to this a lot lately

Predictable jokes aside, this album is super under appreciated. Imo this has some of their best material to date, and sure none of it is as complex as ajfa or as epic as something from rtl and mop or even as raw and fast as kill em all but it works really fuckin well on its own and shows ... read more

Load is, without a doubt, Metallica's first dud in their career. They released 5 straight great albums from 1983 until here, which is a pretty good run. But they really dropped the ball on Load. This record has no punch whatsoever. This is basically the definition of stagnant metal. So much so, that this is even tagged as "hard rock" and not just metal lol. If any of Metallica's post thrash work has aged the most Well, it is Load. Beautiful guitar tones, amazing production and experimental song structures have given way to a very interesting album. Songs like Outlaw Torn, House Jack Built and Bleedimg me Display powerful and unique songwriting. Mama said is another standout which displays Hetfield's country influences, a first for Metallica.
