Damn this album had wasted potential😭 the first couple tracks were so phenomenal!!! They were heavy and catchy and everything was clicking with awesome vocals and scathing. Unfortunately after children of the korn, everything took a fall. Children of the korn was just mid with ok lyrics and just a bs sound. After that there were a few scattered emotional tracks that did hit hard, but why would they put all in the family, a comedic track, in the middle of a heavy, booming album? Its such a ... read more
Ugh. How dumb can critics get dude? WHAT is there in this album that makes it above an 80? Istg people just hear a unique beat and automatically stamp it with a high rating. Im looking at you death grips, this applies for that too. But seriously, I understand that these new styles of production may be shaping the unpredictable future for rap, but what good is that when the beats are just NOISE. This is a genre I kinda like to call "fake experimental." Being different to be different ... read more
Well, I LOVE korn. I got into them from that one baseball player walk up. IFYKYK. It sounded so interesting and heavy and just soooo violent and aggressive. Blinds intro was a completely different type of climactic, sounding anticipatory, and as if the drop would strike at random, making a violent, amazing intro. Blind was the most perfect intro I could imagine for any nu metal album for all the reasons stated, it really set the tone, and so did the track after, ball tongue, my personal ... read more
Wow. I really love the instrumental breaks on this one. They're very aggresive and satisfying to hear after some amazing delivery vocally. Dive in and the divine zero are both great examples of energy. My ONLY problem with this is album is floral & fading, where its sounds like music that'd play at the end credits of a kids movie. Its so stupid sounding, the vocals are so unsatisfying and the production isn't much better, its out of pocket for the album and it doesn't ... read more
Alright, its better than monster, and even though its better by 1 point, this is a much more revolutionary album for trap, as 90210 genuinely clears all codeine crazy by miles. As I've listened to trap, I've observed that its a difficult genre to master, as it does NOT focus on lyrics, but instead on hard production and insane levels of braggadocio. Now, this concept is always messed up though, as in the trap that I've listened to, its not insane levels of swagger or tough lines, ... read more
2007 is one of the best hip hop songs I've ever heard in my life. It singlehandedly brings this album up so much higher and it makes the ending feel much more climactic and conclusory. My thoughts on the rest of the album are on my og review, but I LOVE 2007. Top 5 hip hop Lowkey.
Man the ending part of this album really scared me. If it wasnt for Lauder too, I would have rated this an 88. The beginning is amazing, with radar being an amazing intro, with punchy delivery and flow, and amazing beats, as the switches hit insanely hard. The first half in general is basically perfect, and the half is concluded perfectly with kody blu 31. Unlike hereditary, another song focused more on singing, kody blu 31 has ZERO cliches, and instead brings a unique, emotional mood drenched ... read more
Im not even big on korn. Ive listend to one album, but seeing an old band do this good is impressive. This makes me wanna listen to their debut. Ok the more I listen to this song the more I realized how awesome it is. It sounds like some old work, while having an ounce of modern vibes that bring out the new Korn. Its so energetic and awesome its perfect.
So recently, ive been in a music slump. I havent listened totally anything in a while, and that sucks. Though when this dropped, I finally said, ok, im gonna listen to a full length album. Im gonna try to listen to the forever story, the miseducation of Lauryn hill, and maybe smt else. But that aside, this was a good introduction back into music. Shteppi/issbrokie has really started to outdo herself. The intro is cryptic and frankly, eerie. Maybe its a bit corny or over the top, but its nothing ... read more
ISSBROKIE got some talent man. This album goes for a calm electronic moody vibe with its production being simple electronic sounds followed with some catchy drums. This simplistic, but nice style sounds great, and BROKIES rapping is pretty good. :3 was kinda wack with her bars, as they were basic, but the rest were pretty good, and insecurities was amazing. I also really appreciated BROKIE using her old style raspy voice on pov: I Ollie over ur grave. It brings a good vocal contrast, making the ... read more
FINALLY, brokie makes a good song not meant to be taken lyrically. I really don't mind tracks like this, just as long as its not blatanly WACK. This was solid throughout though, and a vibe.
What a strange album... Shaolin sword part was significantly worse than the next. The production on the first 4 tracks was, truthfully, kinda boring. It was mostly js the same drums over and over and over. Luckily, the bars saved the tracks rating, because if the lyrics were good, and not great as they are, most of the first tracks would be 70s and 75s, besides, in one of the track theres a poop bar? I mean, we got on ice spice for making poop bars, but when its old school wu tang we dont? A ... read more
Its a very consistent and solid album, but it comes off as too linear. There are standouts like besitos and the boy who could fly, but after that,. the highlights kinda lack, and while there is no glaring flaw in each track, I wish the work was more ambitious, as the energy and mood remains similar and flat throughout the album. The thing that saves this from being a snoozefest is tracks that are calmer, that give a nice pause, which bring out the next energetic tracks really well. Overall, ... read more
Solid ass record. Lil yachty goes through his psychedelic peak, with some catchy, amazing, production that are very groovy. His voice actually isnt bad, despite it being a bit artificial sounding. It truly fits and adds to the bizzare and just beautiful sound of the album. Honestly, the black Seminole is a better intro to an album than Wesleys theory. It hits so hard and it a great shock to start off an album with an incredibly unique sound. This would be like a 95 if it didnt kinda drag on. ... read more
Yeah ts is NOT a 53😭✌️ wtf guys. Its not a masterpiece, but ita nowhere close to a 53. I really dont get the criticisms on this album, as its decently well rounded, with punchy, catchy, and tough production. Its not incredibly aggresive like, say uhhh... around the fur, but it has its moments of catchy energy, like hushabye, where the whys are real great, and kiss, where the vocals are also catchy. Some songs feel longer than they should be, and they get repetitive and boring. Those are ... read more
Im not even gonna hold yall, ima cut straight to the chase, this is the best album ive ever listened to, and i would call this the best album of all time, but I still need to listen to more music. Ill probably listen to some classic Beatles, pink Floyd, or other classic bands because this the closest album ive heard to making me say, "this is the pinnacle of all music." Where do I START. I mean, its so futuristic and bizzare, this album could he yhe soundtrack to a horror game, or it ... read more
