Redman contributed his regular excellent writing with the best producers in the game.
While Pac expresses a lot of what you'd hear on future albums; including energetic and passionate performances, mic presence, and writing, he did not express the clean consistent mix those future albums had. A good starting point with much improvement.
This "type" of rapping isn't really my personal favorite, but i can acknowledge the quality enough to give it a solid score.
My dad put me onto this album when I was younger and I've loved it ever since.
Love Marley's Production but could have gotten a little more out of some of the performances. Still a great showing of a wonderful producer.
At this point in their discography, this is my least favorite of theirs. There are still some solid moments(such as Beats to the Rhyme & Radio Station) but there are also some... weak points(such as I'm Not Going Out Like That or How'd Ya Do It Dee).
The crucial N.W.A. record. Pretty much no bad tracks just overall consistently great.
Albeit worse than Paid in Full, this further shows how much they mean to the genre and how far they set it ahead.
I have absolutely nothing to say. Pure excellence.
Improving from their debut somehow, this record is even more energetic, unique, and experiemental for the time. The chemistry, fun and interesting songs, and instrumentals are just wonderful.
I really enjoy this record. You can hear the influence here that would later go to groups like De la Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. Really no filler just smooth, enjoyable tracks with unique, energy filled production.
The energy on this album is still incredible. Song's like Set it Off, and Mister Cee's Master Plan showcase this excellently.
Always loved the production on this one, but EPMD's rapping here always felt very boring to me. Maybe its because I wasn't around when this was big, but I don't really see the mass appeal overall. Songs like Let the Funk Flow or You Gots to Chill still rock due to the production, but overall I'm not a fan of this one.
KRS-One showcases why he's one of the greats.
Rest in piece to Scott La Rock.
Production knocks, but Will Smith has always been the least gimmicky "gimmick rapper" to me, and I can't really get into any of his songs.
A Lot of these songs would just be better if the mix was up to par. Boyz-n-the-Hood is just way lower mixed than the remix on Eazy Duz It. Songs like 8 Ball, and Dope Man are mixed excellently and sound great, but others like Tuffest Man Alive do not.
