Circle of Stone is a good metal album with some solid soft vocal performances. Some minor filler but behind those songs, there is an album full of hidden gems.
TRACK BY TRACK:
1. Mind Reader - 7/10 - Decent opening track.
2. Tears in Rain - 6/10 - Its a decent song but it sounds exactly like Mind Reader.
3. Rage - 9/10 - The slow buildup intro is not what I was expecting from Blaze Bayley. I very much enjoyed the full song.
4. The Year Beyond This Year - 9/10 - I'm absolutely shocked at ... read more
As much as this may be a hot take, I really enjoy the more progressive, experimental hard rock sound on this album. From the opening "Back Street Kids" to the seven-minute masterpiece "Dirty Women", this album is extremely underrated. Also, we're all sleeping on Bill Ward as a singer - on both Sabbath tracks he's sung.
The epitome of mid. Great vocals and great guitar work, but Kevin Churko's modern production style doesn't always fit Ozzy's style of metal.
Pretty metal album, considering it's mostly played by a group of senior citizens. This is by far better than anything Ozzy has put out since Down to Earth. From the vocals that actually sound like Oz to the incredible lineup of musicians, it's a nearly flawless album.
BEST: Patient Number 9, Nothing Feels Right, One of Those Days
WORST: Dead and Gone, God Only Knows
Easily the worst album from the original 4 albums, and although there isn't anything wrong with it, it has more filler and doesn't have the same inspired vibe of the first 3 albums.
Easily the most unique Black Sabbath album.
BEST: Sweet Leaf, Into the Void, Children of the Grave.
