Marina (and Mitski) - personally responsible for getting me through being 15
After something like Pornography, it was going to be hard to pull off a new wave, mostly lighthearted album. The Cure themselves probably knew this, with how dark the opening track Shake Dog Shake is compared to the rest of the album. Nothing The Cure makes has really been *bad* to me, but as a whole, this is one of their more forgettable albums, with gimmicky and silly songs with bizarre lyrics which show that experimenting doesn’t always pay off.
