Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo 2

going through all the albums I listened to in 2025 but didn't review !

god dammit man, this album frustrates me so much.

alfredo is one of my favorite albums of all time, across all genres, not just rap. one of the most consistent, concise, all hitters albums in existence. so I can't imagine it's very easy to follow up an album like that. there's something so frustrating about going into a sequel album knowing that, even if it's great, it cannot live up to the ... read more

Geese - Getting Killed

slowly going through all the albums I heard in 2025 but forgot to review !

it's been so interesting witnessing the hype cycle on geese and especially this album. tons of acclaim upon release, band is gaining so much traction and literally just played on fucking SNL. then some people decide that this band has gotten too big and is suddenly not cool or worth listening to anymore.

idk I got into them a little while after 3D country came out, which still remains my favorite album from them. ... read more

Racing Mount Pleasant - Racing Mount Pleasant

god I haven't touched this site in months, I should change that. I might as well catch up on all the albums I heard throughout 2025 but didn't review for whatever reason.

so I don't know how else to say this. this album is undeniably really good, and one of the most beautiful albums I heard last year. however I have a couple overarching issues, and these issues stuck after me listening to this all the way through 3 or 4 times. for one, the vocals just are nothing to write home ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

I think I can officially say that I like bladee now. I've liked the majority of his albums that I've heard thus far, with this being one of my favorites. this is easily one of his most consistent albums, with even the worst songs still being pretty solid. also "hotel breakfast" is a generational classic of astronomical proportions. easily the most quotable bladee song ever, it's seared into my brain at this ... read more

Hayley Williams - Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party
77

glad I finally got around to this ! this is a very consistently good album, with the exception of "discovery channel". I really really really don't like that interpolation, as the original song is pretty corny to begin with. like that got a genuine eye roll out of me. I also wasn't huge on "love me different" for some reason. but pretty much everything else is at least good ! I guess the main issue is that very few of these songs are like AMAZING. I'd say ... read more

finally getting around to checking out this band, I've been meaning to for well over a year now.

I'm a sucker for this emo/pop punk sound, so I'm not surprised that I like this. there aren't any bad songs, but very few of these songs really stood out as being particularly great, with the exception of the last song. also I know this can be part of the diy charm in some cases, but some of the vocals sound like they were recorded on a logitech webcam from across the room or ... read more

Panopticon - Roads to the North

I love albums that make me feel cold, and this might be the most frigid album I've ever heard. it sounds exactly like the cover art in the best way possible. I also love the mix of black metal and bluegrass, I haven't heard anything quite like it before. the screamed vocals sound amazing, though I'm more indifferent on the one sung track near the end. they're not bad, just not this guy's strong suit. but wow I can't wait to check out more of this band's ... read more

Bladee & Mechatok - Good Luck

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

fuck this was so lame I'm sorry. bladee does not know what to do over these youtube type beat ass beats. they genuinely sound like they were made in 5 minutes. I haven't heard any of mechatok's other stuff, apart from what he's done for bladee, but this doesn't make me wanna check out more of his stuff. I would never willingly listen to any of these songs again, they're just all so boring.

they ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

it's been a while since I last listened to any of bladee's full projects, but I'm gonna finish listening to all of them since I'm gonna see him live.

so this ended up being one of my favorite albums I've heard from him. if I were to recommend anyone a bladee project that is a bit of a good summary of his sound, this would be one of the first I'd recommend. it's a good encapsulation of that dreamy ... read more

Tame Impala - Deadbeat

man I don't know about this.

I was really worried about this album after I heard the first single, "end of summer". there's a couple catchy melodies, but overall it was a pretty boring song with some really awful sounding chipmunk vocals. but then "dracula" came out and it gave me hope because that song is pretty wonderful. it's got a great groove and so many catchy melodies. I got it stuck in my head while I type this out, it's just so good. so going ... read more

Jane Remover - Indie rock

on august 18, 2025, I drove about 10 hours back home after a little road trip. in that span of time, jane remover surprise dropped, and deleted, this entire project from the internet. fucking crazy.

anyways I've been sitting on this for a while. I've listened to it in full 3 or 4 times just to really pin down my thoughts. and I mean it's good ! but I don't know if I'm ever gonna listen to the entire thing from front to back again. there are some really great songs on ... read more

OsamaSon - psykotic

some of these beats are fucking demented man.

I'm trying to get into more rage stuff and this is definitely one of the better rage albums I've heard so far ! osamason is a more interesting mic presence than like ken carson for example. he generally has better and more interesting taste in beats than most in this style. the main issue with this is that a lot of these songs start to run together and get kinda boring, especially in the second half of the album. most rage albums would ... read more

Newfound Interest in Connecticut - Tell Me About the Long Dark Path Home
90

I wanna live in this album, it makes me feel cold in the best way.

this is only my second time listening to this album and it's already becoming a bit of an all timer. it's not reinventing the wheel, but it did everything it set out to do incredibly well. the crescendos are immense, the vocals are beautiful and visceral. just a very very special emo album and a new quintessential winter album for me.

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl
29

I had a bad feeling about this album from the very start, but I desperately wanted it to be good. I never WANT an album to be bad, I was hoping this would surprise me and be good, or at least better than TTPD. but it's worse. literally the only things going for this album are that it's short, and some of the harmonies sound great. other than that, this is a wasteland.

the first song is pretty solid, but it's all downhill from there. taylor really is her own worst enemy on this ... read more

Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer

this shit makes me feel like I'm 13 listening to prime monstercat.

unrelated to the quality of the album but nina is fucking amazing live. helps that the album is really great too ! I'm aware that this album is really feeding off of my nostalgia, but I don't care when it sounds this good. so many instant hits on this album that keep filling the dead space in my brain when it gets quiet. so many instantly iconic choruses and drops. pretty much every song flows perfectly into the ... read more

Magdalena Bay - Mercurial World

just saw magdalena bay the other night and they were absolutely incredible ! but on my way to meet up with my friends before the show, I finally listened to this album for the first time. I'd heard maybe a third of the songs from this album before, with chaeri being the first magdalena bay song I ever heard. and I'm happy to say that they were great before imaginal disk, this shit is so good.

so much raw talent on display on this, in terms of vocals and production. it's just ... read more

glaive - Y'all

ngl as much as I've enjoyed a lot of glaive's recent stuff, I was not expecting to come on here and say that this is his best project. but it is.

every song is at least good, with most of them being great. like he is truly on another level on this album. on one hand, it's usual glaive, but executed at the highest level. this is easily the most emotionally invested I've ever been listening to a glaive project. obviously a lot of this is just typical glaive flexing, but there ... read more

Fievel Is Glauque - Rong Weicknes

learned of this band via cameron winter recommending it to his interviewer. I went in completely blind and was very happy with what I heard ! really interesting mix of art pop and jazz, produced incredibly well. just a very whimsical little album. I was worried because the first song didn't do much for me, but then the second song came in and swept me off my feet. the flute and sax on this album are so gorgeous and enchanting.

not every song is a hit, some of them do more for me than ... read more

I've started writing this review more than once, then started playing the album, and getting sidetracked and forgetting to finish the review cause this album is so fucking good.

I've been aware of her music under the twikipedia alias for a couple years now. only started listening to her last year with her "for the rest of your life" album. but when I heard she had a full on rock side project (now main project), I was very intrigued. and then I forgot to listen to it for ... read more

Joanne Robertson - Blurrr

admittedly found out about this album from the pitchfork review. I quickly realized that I've heard her on black metal, the only dean blunt album i've heard thus far, and I remember her being a consistent highlight, so I was very intrigued by this.

even though I'm not as huge on this album as pitchfork, I still found it pretty enjoyable ! joanne's vocals are oftentimes pretty entrancing and ethereal buried in these spacey soundscapes. I wasn't able to look into the ... read more
