glad I finally got around to this ! this is a very consistently good album, with the exception of "discovery channel". I really really really don't like that interpolation, as the original song is pretty corny to begin with. like that got a genuine eye roll out of me. I love albums that make me feel cold, and this might be the most frigid album I've ever heard. it sounds exactly like the cover art in the best way possible. I was really worried about this album after I heard the first single, "end of summer". there's a couple catchy melodies, but overall it was a pretty boring song with some really awful sounding chipmunk vocals. but then "dracula" came out and it gave me hope because that song is pretty wonderful. it's got a great groove and so many catchy melodies. I wanna live in this album, it makes me feel cold in the best way.

this is only my second time listening to this album and it's already becoming a bit of an all timer. it's not reinventing the wheel, but it did everything it set out to do incredibly well. the crescendos are immense, the vocals are beautiful and visceral. just a very very special emo album and a new quintessential winter album for me.

I had a bad feeling about this album from the very start, but I desperately wanted it to be good. I never WANT an album to be bad, I was hoping this would surprise me and be good, or at least better than TTPD. but it's worse. literally the only things going for this album are that it's short, and some of the harmonies sound great. other than that, this is a wasteland.

just saw magdalena bay the other night and they were absolutely incredible ! but on my way to meet up with my friends before the show, I finally listened to this album for the first time. I'd heard maybe a third of the songs from this album before, with chaeri being the first magdalena bay song I ever heard. and I'm happy to say that they were great before imaginal disk, this shit is so good.

I went in completely blind and was very happy with what I heard ! really interesting mix of art pop and jazz, produced incredibly well. just a very whimsical little album. I was worried because the first song didn't do much for me, but then the second song came in and swept me off my feet. the flute and sax on this album are so gorgeous and enchanting.
