very competently made unseasoned chicken

am I missing something with this? I feel like I’m being gaslit about this album. don’t get me wrong, I’m glad so many people are enjoying this, and I tried to. but I don’t know this did very little for me

I don't know what to make of this, cause none of these songs are bad. at their worst, they’re just forgettable with a couple really bad lines here and there. but at their best, they’re just pretty good songs ... read more

I WANT WEEZER THE BAND ON THIS ONE

that was one of several songs on here that made my jaw drop in sheer awe of how bad they were. but yeah I hate to say this, but this was my first full lil wayne album and I don’t think I could’ve chosen a worst time to start listening to him. cause man this was really not good.

he sounds washed on at least half of these songs, and some of these beat choices are genuinely unfathomable. I know I’m not the first to say this, but that peanuts 2 ... read more

FINALLY got around to listening to this before I check out their newest album. so glad I did, because yeah this is super up my alley. very strong first half, and I love the turn into a more folksy sound palette on the second half. I can't wait to check out their newest album and the EP they came out with before the whaler, cause this turned me into a fan of this band !

this is the hardest song they’ve ever dropped. not the best, but the hardest. it’s a TWIABP summer

Lucy Bedroque - Unmusique
78

this was SICK. I just saw lucy open for jane in LA and both were so good. I had heard this album a few days before seeing them live, but seeing lucy perform a lot of these songs made me appreciate this mixtape even more. I don't wanna make the carti comparisons, all I'm gonna say is that lucy could make MUSIC but carti couldn't make unmusique. lucy is such a dynamic performer with a lot of vocal range and variety. most of these beats have really interesting details in them, while ... read more

Bon Iver - SABLE, fABLE

this one took a few listens to grow on me. I love bon iver, he's made so many of my favorite songs of all time. I was a little weirded out by the rollout of this, with the sable EP being attached to the beginning of it. but hearing him explain it in interviews, it makes a lot of sense as a sort of precursor to the rest of the album that sounds like the clouds opening up. which now that I think about it, the first lyrics of short story are "oh the vibrance, sun in my eyes", so ... read more

Car Seat Headrest - The Scholars

listening to this immediately after the sleep token album was such a whiplash of my level of enjoyment. but yeah this was one of my most anticipated albums of this year, and I really liked it ! it didn't match my enjoyment of teens of denial or twin fantasy, nor did I really expect it to. I guess I was just hoping for a bit more out of this. the singles were all amazing and ended up being my favorite songs on this, which was sorta disappointing. none of the other songs are bad, they just ... read more

I tried, I really really did. I just can't do it

I have met so many people in the last year, and when I ask them for their favorite artists, sleep token is brought up absurdly often. and before this album, I'd heard a couple songs from their previous album. the one I remember, I liked half of it and hated the other half. so I went into this album hoping to enjoy it, I really wanted to. but man I just don't

I have the same issues with this album as I did those previous songs, ... read more

Ken Carson - More Chaos

okay first full ken carson album ! I like a couple of the songs I’ve heard from a great chaos, so I was hoping this would be good. it was not.

I’m sorry but this was kinda soul sucking. the most I can say is that some of the beats are really good. none of them are as good as the beat on jennifer’s body. and on the first song, ken switches up his flow quite a bit which was cool. but I don’t know am I crazy for thinking that ken is just really boring as a rapper ? ... read more

WHERE DO I START

I guess I'll start by saying that I am a massive jane fan, so this rating will not be a surprise to anyone who knows me. I will also say that I've listened to this 4 times so far, and I am pretty confident that this is where I stand on this album. and I stand on it being amazing and completely fucking unhinged and something that only jane could make.

how do you even describe the sound of this to someone who hasn't heard it? this is some of the most maximalist ... read more

I'm of two minds about this album. on one hand, it's a good album ! on the other hand, his previous album was a lot better, so I can't help but be a little disappointed in this. I haven't heard his entire discography yet, but this feels very standard for the most part. a few REALLY great songs, quite a few really good songs, and a couple that are not all that great. I feel like his previous album had more personality than this one does, but I can't act like this album ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

okay so I'm putting up this review technically out of chronological order even though I listened to it yesterday. and that's cause I was trying to figure out how I really feel about this. and I feel like I should like this even more than I do. this is my third time listening to icedancer and I was hoping this would be the time where it fully clicks for me and I think it's amazing. but yeah I've decided that ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

okay why did I kinda love this ??? this is one of his lower rated main albums and I don't quite understand why. I guess I kinda do, as compared to most of his other albums, it's pretty minimalist. but I think that sets it apart from his other stuff in a good way. it also helps that a lot of these beats are pretty incredible and kinda psychedelic too, most of these beats are ear candy. only real issues are that the intro ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

before listening to this, I had heard western union and loved it. and I mean obviously it's the best song on this, but most of the other songs are pretty good too ! and if you've read any of my previous bladee reviews (you have not), you would know that I really don't like what I've heard of thaiboy digital. BUT I will say, this is the most I've enjoyed him yet. that being said, he's still the weakest ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

okay the first time I heard this album a year or two ago, I did not like it at ALL. did nothing for me other than annoy me and bore me. I'm happy to say that this time, I like it more, or idk I dislike it less. it definitely has its moments, like the two songs with ecco and "I'm goofy". but I can't lie and pretend like this didn't feel longer than 40 minutes. some of these songs are a bore, and a lot of ... read more

RAAAAAAAAA I WISH I LIKED THIS MORE

I've heard people say this is almost a precursor to cold visions, and I get what people mean by that. I love the sound that this is going for, but this still feels really inconsistent in quality across the board. the beats are either really great or just okay, or don't sound finished. bladee either sounds great or just okay, or like he's not trying. it's just all over the ... read more

LISTENING TO BLADEE'S DISCOGRAPHY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

does thaiboy ever get good ? I'm sorry but I haven't heard anything good from him yet.

anyways this was just okay. there were a few pretty good songs, particularly near the start of the album. but this is too long for its own good, especially when most of the songs sound VERY similar to one another. the beats are occasionally great, mostly just okay. black boy is definitely the best song here, and I think ecco is the ... read more

this is the smoothest shit I've heard all year

ngl I think this is my first full saba album. I know I heard part of care for me, but I don't know if I ever finished it. but this makes me wanna check out the rest of his stuff because god damn this guy slides all over this album. these beats are pretty incredible too, great samples throughout. also it is a crime that 'big picture' isn't rated higher because that song is SICK. Skrillex - F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3

if I heard this 12 years ago, it'd probably be one of my favorite albums of all time. skrillex is most of the reason I ever got into edm in the first place, but I kinda fell off of his stuff just before recess came out, as I was transitioning out of my edm phase. but man this just transports me right back to that time. this is pretty much all of the things I loved about edm and dubstep, but without most of the cliches and bullshit that made this sound sour on me. this has so much variety ... read more
