If you flexible, intellectual, bisexual, can I get next to you?
Slum village asks the REAL questions
While this project contains some interesting bars, introspection, and a couple enjoyable songs, the rest feels derivative of itself and quite frankly, somewhat boring to listen to.
Well, just from the cover you can tell you’re in for something interesting and new. While not completely experimental, Joey played around with his sound to create an easy listen with an introspective and thoughtful undertone to convey his feeling that it is truly Lonely at the Top. Also, I think the cover is really cool, idk why people are hating. I do just like that kind of art though…
Before I get to the actual musical content of this album, I want to take a moment to appreciate it's cover art. While abstract and chaotic at points, it contrasts colors to aptly set the tone of the album. While depicting a work-in-progress, as It's Almost Dry, the finished piece should be jarring, brash, and filled with different colors and textures underlined by an element of grime.
It's Almost Dry is a showcase of musical excellence, underlined by the excellence of Pusha ... read more
36 Reasons is my favorite Billy Blue album so far, with many standout songs that are easy and fun to listen to. I don't have very much to say besides that people should at least check it out. Even though many of the songs lack any deep substance, Billy Blue creates a good atmosphere throughout this project.
While not a total disaster, The Life of Pedro is lackluster in many areas and quite short. I have not revisited many of the songs on this album, as many lack substance, length, and value. However, the two standouts (in my opinion) Fundamentals and Lil Yeah Yeah are enjoyable to listen to. Overall, this project was a bit of a flop and seemingly distant from Billy Blue's good work.
Emotional, energetic, and personal. While exploring the highs and lows of his life, much of it underlined by poverty, Ray Vaughn truly conveys what is good, what is bad, and what it's like to live off the dollar menu. Ray Vaughn has put together one of the more impressive projects this year, to little acclaim or hype. Starting slow and building the context and mood of the album Ray Vaughn delivers impactful bars over both minimal and hard beats before switching pace to a faster and more ... read more
Mind-numbing songs arranged together to claim the award of "worst album of the year" in my books.
Sean Stephens may be one of the single worst musical artists to grace this earth. I personally think he has potential to make real music but he writes and records nonsense slop like this and spam posts it on Instagram constantly.
While starting strong and somewhat losing steam towards the end of the album, God's Son is certainly not a disappointing album by any stretch of the imagination. Containing both standout tracks in which Nas lays down quick and heavy bars and slower, more heartfelt tracks in which he explores his persona and raw emotion, Nas weaves together fairly variable songs and tones to create a cohesive album and listening experience that leaves the listener satisfied, maintaining his momentum after ... read more
Listened to this randomly with no expectations, and while it didn't stand out to me too much, ARDN created a decently good project with some highs and basically no lows, although nothing was super exceptional. I've revisited some of the songs a couple of times, but not the album itself. The lyrics and production are smooth, creating a good listening experience.
This is one of my favorite Don Trip albums, but to be fair I haven't listened to nearly all of his discography, as it is simply so large. Don Trip delivered a fairly decent album, with a couple very good songs and few misses. HIs writing on this project, like his others, remains unique and creative at a level most mainstream rappers have yet to achieve.
Decent album, with some highs and only a few lows. For the most part it just felt meh, with a couple standout tracks. The chemistry was good between Don Trip & Starlito, and while not a bad project by any means, felt lackluster at times.
Conway delivered here idc what anyone says. While not his best work, it was certainly not lackluster and is full of tracks I find myself visiting and enjoying.
EDIT: came back to see if I needed to rerate the album after listening to it again and decided it was still amazing.
This seems to be a hot take, but I enjoyed this album. Nothing stood out to me too much, besides a couple tracks and verses, but overall it felt like a good cohesive listen showcasing many artists abilities in one project. Everyone got their own time to shine, and for the most part, everyone executed their role pretty well. While the sound of this album as a whole caused a lot of songs to blend together, in this instance, I wouldn't necessarily say that's a bad thing.
