I got to say it; I find both of these B-side albums to be better than Cracker Island.
This has got to be Gorillaz's most underrated album ever. I find this to be as good as Self-Titled and The Now Now. It's quite fascinating how this album combines sounds from Cudi's previous albums, while sounding unique in its own way. The galactic synthesizers from AKNC and MOTM 1, the occasional rock influence from MOTM 2 and WZRD, the very unusual beats from Indicud, and combine those elements with its own orchestra-like sound. After "Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven" crashed and burned and Kid Cudi's mental health reached towards the bottom of the barrel, he went to rehab and we got a decent comeback album with "Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin". Pharrell Williams produced most of this album, which gives the project a prominent Lo-fi sound that we never heard from a Cudi album before. I'm not sure why everyone is describing this as a pop-rock album when it's clearly not. Sure, there are pop-rock songs on this album (Mr. Miracle, Truman Show, Grave, and Past Life), but this album is more of a pure pop album. Songs like Neverland, Opiate, Deep Diving, Submarine, and Picnic in Paris showcase what the main sound of this record is.
