RIP Brent.
This song slaps, and although it is shadowed by the passing of Brent, Mastodons best work is built on grief. I have know doubt this album will be live up to its standard. Your Ghost Again shows mastodon still has its aggressive style . The song is heavy, but still catchy and transforms mastodon sound into something we have not seen before, I see influences from all the eras on this song, and you can feel the weight of Brents passing on the band.
Acid Bath's second album, Paegan Terrorism Tactics, is a great follow up to their debut, When The Kite String pops. All the typical Acid Bath sound, lyrics, instrumentation is still there. Even looking back at the a track list now, this album has no skips. Bleed Me and Ocean, Grave flower, and Venus Blue are definitely the highlights. Except for Dax giving some of his edgy poems, as seen on The Beautiful Downgrade, I constantly come back to this album, and is another classic in the New ... read more
I love Megadeth, but for me the is a forgettable album. I think Tipping Point is one of the only redeeming songs on this album. Other than that all the other songs are easily outclassed by other Megadeth songs. Let There Be Shred is just a worst version of Back in the Day. Made to kill is just a worse version of Sudden Death. I think this albums biggest downfall is unfortunately Dave's vocals. Yes the fact he can still sing is impressive, but for a lot of these songs it doesn't work. ... read more
Easily one of the best projects to come out of the New Orleans Sludge metal scene. Massive 10 minute songs like shadows and the sun and blindspot are constantly keeping you engaged. The lead vocalist has a voice like if dax Riggs and layne stayley had a child. The drums parts throughout the album are also insane and have that classic new orleans sludge metal style. As a person who enjoyes Acid Bath alot, this album in my mind rivals both When The Kite String Pops and Paige and terrorism ... read more
Metal classic for southern New Orleans sludge metal. Super unique album with insane drumming, riffs, and vocals. Dax and Sammy are killing it. My only gripe is some of the lyrics can get a little edgy, but its part of the esthetic and part of the album. Highlights include: Tranquilized, Jezebel, Scream of the Butterfly, Dr. Suess is Dead, and The Mortician Flame. RIP Audie.
