I won't say probably anything new about this one. It plays very safe, it starts to play strong, first half sounds almost as good as Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but then the second half doesn't even come as strong as Californication, but overall it's a beautiful album, maybe too pop for them, at least they manage to not dissapoint after a 3 year wait after a quite strong and successful album.

Very underrated album, deserves more attention than it's getting. I love the experimentation in here, probably the most transcending album of all in their discography, that's why this one is special, this is like opening a door to a sound of RHCP that we know now and the one that with their next album will be locked up as their signature sound. Great album, of course, it was hard to follow Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which was almost perfect and probably their best. This one has misses ... read more
Now who could've knew that this band could release such a good album as this? Their definitely best and one of the biggest leafs in music history if you heard their first four albums. Rick Rubin gave them a wonderful lesson, the band itself finally took themselves more serious and this is the result of it. Lots of funky, catchy and melodic tunes here, one of the most interesting records of the '90s, almost a masterpiece.

This one's actually better than I thought. I was kinda sure that Uplift Mofo album will take the cake, but this one had even a better focus on the right direction for the band. After Hillerl's trafic death, Chad Smith and John Frusciante enters the band, a formula built by these four men will make them bigger than they probably had ever expected and this was the beginning of it. Tracks getting better, songs now have their shapes, but the harsh music wasn't what made this album ... read more
Okay, we keep on getting better with each album, comparing this to their debut, it sounds like the band made a 360 degree turn in a good way of their music. Again, nothing much special here, but the songs got better hooks and there are more memorable songs here than the first two albums had, Hillel Slovak joins the band, sadly this will also be the last time he plays in a RHCP album. Not a strong album, but this one is probably the one the hardcore fans choose to play the most of their first ... read more
