I rarely post on here at all but I figured I'd come on and say that this is an easy album of the year pick for me. I think seeing them live in Brooklyn only cemented that for me; this is an incredible piece of art, one that I'm going to be returning to for years to come. If this is the last we ever hear from Injury Reserve, then this is an incredible note to end on. I love these guys so much. Rest in power to Groggs.
Also congrats to Ritchie on his engagement :') ❤️
What I love about billy and E L U C I D is that they both paint apocalyptic pictures of their experiences of their experiences as black human beings, going into the paranoia and stress that results from being trapped in the systemic racism that plagues America. As emcees they play off of each other incredibly well; billy's bold, almost sludgy delivery reflects E L U C I D's flows that are more low key by comparison but are quicker and more anxious. The beats are all great too; while not al of ... read more
Great footwork album over here! Some nice soulful samples used too, don't sleep.
This is way better than the first compilation. Like it's not even close
This is the first full album I've heard from Algiers but I liked this a lot from the one listen I gave it today. I can't wait to start unpacking this thing.
It relied on restraint more than anything else I've heard from them (again basing that on songs and not full projects), but I think it benefits the album. Also the cold despondent synthetic instrumentation used adds so much to the atmosphere of the record too.

AND THEY GOT RID OF THAT TERRIBLE PAINTING FOR THE COVER
....and a new double album out November 15th!! This is a big one y'all.......
This might be a hot take but.....
I think this beat is awful. The string samples...sure, they're scary but they get old really quick and sound really awkward over this clunky ass trap beat.
With that being said though, slowthai and Denzel give fantastic performances here, slowthai’s anger especially I though was really tangible.
So in conclusion: performances 😍 instrumental 🤮
Y'know I was kind of underwhelmed at first because I thought Code orange was going to do some crazy shit, but damn the MOOD of this track?? It's so fucking menacing and brooding. I love whenever Ritchie's ad-libs are autotuned, they add so much color to the song, also Peggy did not need to bless us this hard with that verse.
I didn’t hear the second half of this until like a week ago
With every repeat listen I’m starting to really see the magic in this album. Could definitely see this becoming one of my favorites of the year....
