MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE

NEW BATTLES ALBUM IS ON THE WAY

SINCE NO ONE ON HERE IS TALKING ABOUT IT MIGHT AS WELL GIVE IT SOME ATTENTION HERE

Rapsody - Ibtihaj

I'm interested to see what people think of this new Rapsody track, because personally, I did not enjoy this.

So the beat is basically a reworked version of RZA's Liquid Swords beat, and that's easily the best thing about the song. Rapsody and GZA didn't really provide and lyrics that referenced the story of the person that is the song's title in an interesting or compelling way. Ibtihaj Muhammad competed in the Olympics for the USA in fencing while wearing a hijab, the first American Muslim ... read more

Four Tet - Dreamer
NR

My guy Kieran basically wrote a Pantha du Prince song here. And you know what?

It's alright.

Post Malone - Goodbyes

This gets under my skin

Thom Yorke - ANIMA
NR

Fuck I'm having such a hard time getting into this.

Atoms for Peace - AMOK

Now THIS is more like it. Thom improves on the electronics he was working with on The Eraser and improves on all fronts.

Thom Yorke - The Eraser

Don’t really get too much out of this honestly, outside of some of the politically charged lyrics on this album. Analyse, The Clock and Black Swan all just sound like Radiohead B-sides to me, and also I think some of the instrumentation and production is kind of messy, and demo quality. Harrowdown Hill is one of Thom’s most compelling songs though.

Favs: The Eraser, Skip Divided, Atoms for Peace, Harrowdown Hill

Denzel Curry - ZUU

P.A.T. is so damn HARD

Injury Reserve - Injury Reserve
89

The bangers on here balance out so well with the slower tracks that meditate on Injury Reserve's come-up and the members' personal lives. Definitely an album of the year contender.

And I don't the word "bangers" lightly. Jailbreak the Tesla, GTFU, Rap Song Tutorial........ geeZUS

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
85

I think the "bad mixing" contributes to the cartoonish and otherworldly feel of IGOR. It's just that not all of the songs incite any emotional response from me. I also have a hard time getting lost in the world and narrative of this album, but I really hope that changes with further listens.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Crime Pays

Freddie's flowing his ASS off omg

Flying Lotus - Black Balloons Reprise

That Nesquik line though

Logic - Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
NR

I'm pretty excited to hear how bad this is

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

(So far for the first 7 tracks. Guys Eyes is aight)

Flying Lotus - Flamagra
NR

I'm excited for this album but I'm also kinda worried?? Because Spontaneous and Takashi sounded really underwhelming to me, pretty plain compositions.... and this is Flying Lotus we're talking about. I hope they're not indicative of the overall direction FlyLo is going, but I have faith in my dude.
