this album has a lot of strong tracks, yet they don't hold up to some of the performances seen on college dropout and graduation. nevertheless, the strong tracks are nothing but gas. my favs are gold digger, heard em say, dfsl, and late
rating 78 -> 86
note: i relistened to this and understood more tracks and they grew on me a lot. kanye's lyricism is great and i believe that this surpasses graduation. kanye has a couple of personal tracks like roses that i initially overlooked, ... read more
one of kanye's best albums. the sampling, lyrics, flow and features are next level. a lot of classic songs, and this album is filled with kanye humour. absolutely a fun listen and one of the greatest debut albums. my favs are all falls down, jesus walks, slow jamz, and family business
a superb showcase of lauryn's r&b and hiphop talents. every track is amazing and proves that this album will stand the test of time. everyone should listen to this album! my favs are ex-factor, to zion, doo wop, i used to love him, can't take my eyes off of you, and tell him.
for my first listen i didn't think much of this album and probably would have rated it lower. however, after listening to it a few more times, i can say that this is a strong album. gambino displays his rapping ability numerous times in this project. my favs are crawl, the worst guys, 3005, urn, and pink toes
a fantastic back to back listen, and the songs on their own are surreal to listen to. so many great songs, and frank ocean demonstrates his fantastic vocals. my favs are super rich kids, pyramids, bad religion, and pink matter
this album has joyous moments and is a great bedroom pop album. for my first time listening to a beabadoobee album, i found it really enjoyable and it has grown on me over time. my favs are sunny day, the perfect pair, lovesong, and you're here that's the thing
wolf sees tyler moving out of the edgy era of his previous albums and delivering an enjoyable listen through wolf. some of the tracks are crazy, but i find myself coming back to quite a few of the songs on here. my favs are answer, 48, partyisntover/campfire/bimmer, and treehome95
kendrick's throwaways from the tpab era prove to be some stunning works. untitled 05 is one of my fav kendrick songs and there are also a few more hidden gems in here. my favs from this project are 01 (no intro lol) , 02, 05, and 08. despite this being a compilation of only 8 songs, this is stronger than some other artists' entire discographies
the live aspect definitely elevates some of the performances and adds some more depth to songs. this album provides a bit of a shift of some her songs from EIKAL and typical of me. i'd recommend it if you're listening to laufey a lot and haven't listened to this yet
an immersive listening experience with very high highs, yet some low lows. overall i have enjoyed a lot of the tracks on here, yet i don't find myself listening to it back to back enough for me to rate it any higher. my favs are no more parties in la, 30 hours, ultralight beam, and saint pablo
a very different vibe to EIKAL. the songs are very intimate and the arrangements are great. i did feel like a bit of the songs were slightly weaker and didn't speak t me as much. i did and still do enjoy listening to this from time to time. my favs are second best, lovesick, promise, from the start
as for the deluxe tracks, they are some of her best work and i think each of them are stunning
rating the album as a whole btw. this was my introduction to laufey and i thought that his album was so moving the first time i listened to it. this was my first album of anything remotely similar to this and acted as the catalyst for me to explore more indie artists. my favs are fragile, beautiful stranger, dear soulmate, dance with you tonight, night light, and slow down
singlehandedly one of my favourite collab albums. this was my first time listening to an album back to back from either artist and i can wholeheartedly say that his album is fantastic. both of them get to shine each of their talents. my favs are fly as me, after last night, smokin out the window, and skate
this is definitely an album that grows on you over time, and becomes more relevant throughout different periods in your life. it's hard hitting, emotional, and, most importantly, sounds amazing. based on my first listen, i didn't think much of self control, nikes, or even seigfried. but over time i've come to appreciate every song more than what i once thought. my favs are self control, ivy, nights, white ferrari, seigfried.
kanye's best album imo. the amount of effort that went into the features, the lyrics, and the production is insane. this album delivers astoundingly good tracks back to back. my favs are dark fantasy, devil in a new dress, and runaway.
this album features some of kanye's best songs as well as showcasing the development of his production. it's definitely an uplifting album. my favs are can't tell me nothing, flashing lights, everything i am, and good life
a very intropective album that builds on some of the ideas shown in cherry bomb. tyler shows some of his most fleshed out work and proves that he is more than just a goofball. not only tyler, but the features are also very strong . my favs are foreword, 911/mr lonely, november, and glitter.
a look into kendrick lamar's headspace during his life and especially in the period between damn and mmatbs. there are a couple of clever motifs such as people walking /drum patterns symbolising footsteps, the overarching theme of therapy and reconciliation, and accepting that he is not this larger than life 'mr morale'. he expresses his experiences with his sex addiction, sexual abuse within his family, and other confronting issues. my favs from this project are count me out, ... read more
this is a rating for album + deluxe
overall i thoroughly enjoyed the album and it features some sharp rapping from tyler and the features. my favs are sweet/itywtd, corso, hot wind blows, rise. he was able to bring back some similar themes to the ones from igor through wilshire and sweet/itywtd.
the deluxe has some underrated tyler songs like wharf talk, sorry not sorry, and boyfriend girlfriend. certainly his most rap centered project so far and i consider it to be one of his best
a lot of great tracks with my favs being on time, superhero, too many nights, trance, feel the fiyaaaah. the album leaves a bit to be desired with some features, yet it is a great producer album with in-your-face hard hitting production
