Pinned Review

Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska
100

Back in April 2025 i heard this and i just thought it was kinda boring and didn’t wanna return to it. Later in August i listened to it more and goddamn did it just start to make sense. now it’s one of the most emotional and unnerving albums i know.

The title track starts off the album. a song about the 1950s serial killer Charles Starkweather and his girlfriend who murdered 11 people over a short 8 day period and it’s a very dark sounding song regarding his trial. Atlantic ... read more

Kinda reminds me of Switerzland’s Toad. Cool stuff the thing they seperates them from other heavy psych bands is the clav which is a really cool addition. Folkier tracks kinda lose and the longer ones too but i love the riff from the opening track Canto.

Pretty well known in the 70s heavy psych scene. Excellent solos but the songs kind of underwhelm me especially on side two. Cotton Wood Hill is easily the best with They Say I’m Mad behind with those ripping guitar solos.

Gentle Giant - Three Friends

Three Friends used to be one of my least favorite GG albums and boy did things change. This is easily one of if not my favorite gentle giant albums about every song is perfect besides the last. They don’t go to avant-garde here but keep the intricate songwriting that Octopus has. All you need do know how good this album is is listening to that vibes solo at the end of the t/t, holy shit what a trip.

Kapt. Kopter And The Fabulous Twirly Birds - Kapt. Kopter and the (Fabulous) Twirly Birds

Awesome Hendrix fueled heavy psych from the leader of Spirit. This album really kicks major ass i mean holy shit the riffs here are easily some of the best. Side 1 has 2 covers one of Day Tripper and the other of Mother & Child Reunion (both great). Side 2 consists of 2 longer songs with a good (yet forgettable) closer. Shame its so underrated here, definitely give it a listen.

Similar to run of the mill hard rock from the time but that doesn’t mean it’s bad it’s great! However the tracks i feel could be better but alas we have their other albums. Still worth a listen
