Truly underappreciated. The post-rock structures compliments the screamo wonderfully, every part hit so much harder due to the contrast, a genuine masterclass in how to meld genres.

As much as I love swans and I think this record is great, my main issue is that some of these songs feel very repetitive. Not in the sense that it goes on for too long, but that it feels a little bit regurgitated. In fact I love how long some of these songs are, it gives these ideas time to really sit and simmer, and lets Gira explore these ideas, expanding and shrinking until the very end. A ton of great stuff, some bad stuff, though regardless it's really cool to see such legends evolve throughout the years.
