Hearing it again recently, it struck me just how little emotion it evokes at all. It doesn't exist to dance to, or sit down and listen to, or feel anything towards. It exists to hold off other songs being played at walmart and school constantly that I might actively hate, and that relief is the extent of the experience it creates to me.
When this played at the end of part 1 I thought it was a cover of some official song from the game until I realized she was singing about the mountain that makes you rude. So much better than it has any right to be
To anyone on tumblr who just wants to see posts about their cool obscure metal band and keeps seeing my drawings of some red cunt I'm very sorry
90+ across the board. Except eh videotapes is just good yknow idk there's a lot I should love in there maybe I just thought about it too hard and got the radiohead "force myself to love it until I can't fully enjoy it" curse but it's just never really clicked with m[I don't notice the bottomless pit I'm walking into while talking and you choose not to save me as I scream and fall into the abyss]
Indie rock fans coughing up blood when you don't give them the first 3 singles everyone likes stretched out to a full length album and they have to listen to a song that Develops a Theme
(The themes here being that the desire to be special and recognized is flawed and futile as we all know but it won't stop us from chasing it and finding love along the way, also to never go to Britain)
I thought the chorus was enough to make it enjoyable in its own right idkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk ! I'm a Franz fan I can admit when the new single is a dubious omen
"Psh yeah this is overrated garbage, anyone could make this, I could make this album lol" okay then do it. Do it then. I don't mind I'd love more stuff like Annoyed Grunt and The Starting Line out there. Do it then. Get 20 decent ideas for mashups and make a cohesive comedy album to completion π right now ππ»
People who rate Cowtown and all the folksy songs 7/10 or 6/10 will not survive the winter. The cow is NOT a friend to you
We need more flirty songs where it sounds like BOTH parties are having the time of their life.
Also, the way Jay Kay sings "Step in my transporter" to sound like the girl's character is brilliant
The inner sleeve for this album is like a beautiful autism dinner with a giant glistening special interest steak drizzled with obscure facts and graphs sauce and served on a neurodivergence platter
Unironically listen to this shit so much, I wouldn't even call it a guilty pleasure at this point because that implies there's anything actually wrong with it. Great rock that the duo manages to bring a energetic, bright and heroic sonic-like energy to. Even the wackiest lyrics imaginable become pure FIRE when Johnny sings them with zero shame or hesitation.
Faves are Knight of the Wind and Sonic Heroes, something about that one just scratches the brain.
Something about that beat and instrumental scratches my brain. I listen to this unironically because it genuinely sounds really unique from anything I've heard before in a weird way
Danceable, sexy, witty, energetic, instantly catchy, the Take Me Out guys. These are the words repeatedly associated with Franz Ferdinand, which I feel has doomed them a little bit. It stung them a little in the case of Tonight and some of the more subdued or unusual songs on RTRWRA, but especially in the case of “the bad one”, Always Ascending.
Franz Ferdinand has always been a part of my life, but I really got into them around 2021, meaning I don’t have any nostalgic ... read more
I'm glad for anyone without personal ties to the lyrics who are able to look past that and enjoy the music, and I feel horrible for anyone whose recieved that threat and had to hear this song everywhere during that. If this came out in 2022 I would be in a worse place than I am now. I can't rate it based on anything other than this, I just find this song deplorable on a basic level.
Uninstall tiktok and live a life free of overplay like me
I really love the sound of 2020s pop so far when it isn't just blatant throwbacks or whatever the hell david guetta has been doing, this one is very light, fast, and pretty. I just wish it was more of a full song, the core of it is so good but it's all condensed into a two-minute tiktok friendly soundbite, which is a bit disappointing. It helps the quick pace but keeps it from feeling complete to me. Also the rap segment fits into the ... read more
My least favorite kind of rock tends to be the kind where it sounds like they didnt go into the song with any kind of concept or ideas besides "let's make a real rock rockin roller real music real rockin rock song"
One of my favorite J-Pop songs I've ever heard. It's maximalist and super dramatic, and it does those things with the most beautiful execution possible. Just the right blend of the electronic, glitchy and processed elements with the beautiful singing and violins. im probably never watching rezero tho
