Donald Trump & January 6th Prison Choir - Justice for All
0

One of the most horrifying and depressing things I've ever heard.

Rancid - Let's Go
80

Very very front-heavy, but has probably my favorite sound out of any of their records. Really in love with Lars' backup vocals.

The Beatles - Abbey Road
100

Worst album of all time; zero influence, way too late to the party, and made by a bunch of good people who don't beat their wives.

Hüsker Dü - Zen Arcade
95

Please don't make the same mistake I did by listening to this album in a below ideal mental state lol. Holy shit.

New York Dolls - New York Dolls
91

When I say I'm in debt, you best believe I'm in debt D-E-T (little samey in retrospect but still massively ahead of its time and well done.)

The Replacements - Hootenanny
89

This record makes me want to gap someone who's going 20 over in the left lane.

All seriousness, did not think I would love this record HALF AS MUCH as I did omg. It has probably my favorite sound out of any of their albums and I fucking love to death the half raw and eerie songs like Willpower and Color Me Impressed. Would be a ten if not for some of the fluff like Mr. Whirly or You Lose, just to name a few.

The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me
86

Nice record. It's definitely a different and more mature version of the Mats we've never really seen in as much detail. That is kind of the drooping point for the record, though; like most of the songs are a lot weaker than the talent the Replacements have proven with their previous records, and MOST OF them kind of follow a good bit of a formula and can come across as pretty toothless, which I'm pretty sure they weren't going for, but it doesn't sound nearly as ... read more

The Replacements - Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash
90

Replacements were genuinely geniuses when it came to punk and a good amount of some of their other projects. I can get behind their debut, but it compromises a lot of its quality towards the end where it feels like they stop trying and get a lot more samey. Essentially, for every banger with incredible guitar, bass work, songwriting, etc., there's a pretty forgettable dud towards the end.

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
98

One of the most insane and stunning albums ever like seriously holy hell. I really can't get behind Moonchild, or at least the last part where it drags on so much it's not even funny, but the last track makes up for that and brings together this masterpiece.

Joyce Manor - I Used to Go to This Bar
73

Trying to bring myself to listen to more new music. This album is the definition of "good, not great," since it's mostly composed of standard pop punk that's already been said and done. I did enjoy the first half of the album, but it seriously dips in quality and loses more teeth as the album progresses. Musicianship and production are really solid; I enjoyed these guys' sound, and I really dig the rockabilly aspect of some of their songs, but it's still nothing ... read more

Bad Religion - How Could Hell Be Any Worse?
83

This album stuck with me for a really long time and I love its sound, snark, and it does so much for its time. The first three tracks and genuinely so perfect for the start of a punk album, but the last half of the album really nosedives; it kind of has the same problem all hardcore has where it gets really uninspired and forgettable. If they had done just a bit more, this album would be great. (I REALLY like some of the bonus tracks, which I thought were actually apart of the album; I really ... read more

The Clash - London Calling
98

Obviously the GOAT punk rock record. Does so much for its time and really shows how limitless punk can get, ranging from jazz, to rocksteady, to something a little poppier. However, I've listened to this album many times, and it took me three tries to not forget the tracks lol. It can get quite forgettable at times, and the start of the album doesn't give a great hook (the first track is perfect, but the rest not as much.)

The Bruce Lee Band - Everything Will Be Alright, My Friend
89

A really solid step up from their debut. Has some really nice memorable songs, relatively traditional, but still proprietary with great production. Takes a lot to get Jesse Michaels on a song, too. This album still has a good share of duds and can get a little repetitive and forgettable, but this album stuck with me for half a decade and I love it lol.

Operation Ivy - Operation Ivy
100

BANGER BANGER BANGER BANGER massively ahead of its time, one of my favorite albums of all time, a SERIOUS benchmark in the punk scene, and does SO FUCKING MUCH for a debut album made by just a bunch of young adults on a shoestring budget. While there are a couple songs I personally don't care for, you can tell this band is both cool and punk, but also full of substance and not afraid to try new things; it all stuck.

1. Knowledge 5/5

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
98

Probably objectively one of the greatest albums of all time. Extremely respectable and does so much. It gets a little tiny bit uninspired and formulaic at times, but what Marvin and everyone else does here is worth so much fucking commemorating.

Madvillain - Madvillainy
99

Not a huge rap head but trying to get into it more. I really really like the proprietary and progressive nature of this record and Madvillain does an awesome job with everything (I LOVE the fucking production good god.) Not a ten for me since it can get a liiiittle formulaic and toothless at times, but not enough to not be great.

Slime - Alle gegen Alle
81

As standard as it gets lol. I like this album, but bluntly, it's absolutely nothing special. We owe these guys a good bit of credit for how influential they were to the German punk scene, but this is their third album, and that's a point where toothless doesn't even describe it anymore; it needs fucking dentures, musically at least. There are a few songs I really do dig like Oh Boy (even if it's just a stupid cover,) Zu Kalt, Religion, and the self-titled track is a fucking ... read more

Bad Religion - No Control
80

Like their first album, the first three tracks off this record are perfection, and then it dips a bit in quality. I know it's hardcore punk, but a good chunk of this album has "Minor Threat-itis," where most of the songs can get really samey and really really forgettable. This can also be paired with some lyrics that can come across as flamboyant and a bit snobbish since it sounds like an attempt to sound well-spoken; don't get me wrong, I really dig what this band is for, ... read more

All Blissed Out - I Flooded the Turlet EP
73

Essentially a lighter version of my review on their full-length LP. The songs off of here have a little more substance, and are a good bit more inspiring. The songwriting's still really eh in the serious songs. Vocals are also mixed really weirdly.

1. Abomination 3.9/5
2. Uniform 4.1/5
3. Flooded the Turlet 4.3/5

All Blissed Out - All Blissed Out
70

It's aight. This feels like punk with an overbearing and obtrusive hardcore shadow. I knew this band personally, and the singer has some really really sick ideas, but this is just not one of them. All Blissed Out really had a falling out regarding squabbles in their punk roots; half the band wanted to essentially go full metal/hardcore, and in a not great way, and it really shows. The songwriting is good at best and really not that good at worst, giving off Cheap Perfume vibes with its ... read more
