This album was not bad but it was a little disappointing. The singles learning up to this album were really great. Fishbrain, Dumb guitar and Shipwreck are amazing tracks! I think I just expected the would album to go in that driection, with that shoegaze sound and bigger focus on vocals. Although I like Mount Kimbie when they are solely instrumental too so I don’t really know what I’m complaining about here. It just feels a little under cooked, like it’s missing a track or ... read more
This i just such a fun, creative and refreshing piece of indie pop with a super cohesive, quick runtime. I’ve started the album over countless of times right after it’s finished. The album has so many tiny nuances in the production that it makes every relisten worth it.
I think a lot of the charm with Sleaford Mods are their lofi and minimalist aesthetic when it comes to to production. That beings said this album is actually unlistenable during a lot of it’s runtime. Half of these songs just sound like Andrew took the first drum samples he could find, made mad a beat in 10 minutes and then never even touched the mixer board. I know it’s not supposed to sound polished, but this shut just hurts your ears listening to at times. Jason has some great ... read more
Liked this album quite a lot! It’s just filled with fun experimental instrumentation. It’s sound oozes of 80s too, which I found charming in most places but a little corny and dated here and there. I think the first half is stronger than the second but it's still an enjoyable ride all the way through.

The easiest way I can describe this record is optimistic nihilism the album. Dragon New Warm Mountain I believe In You is filled with sorrow themes and existential lyrics yet it always manages this shine it’s light on the beauty of the present and the small things that makes up human. This is also perfectly supported by such nuanced and lively folk instrumental!

Basically the whole album, especially the second half.

On CACTI, Billy Nomates ventures out into more melodic vocals and diverse instrumentation. That sounds like a great progression from the first album, but sadly it didn’t really hit home with me as much as I had hoped. I think what it comes down to a lot is the production, a lot of beats for example gets tiresome really quickly and doesn’t really sound finished. It worked better on the previous album, where the genre made it easier to pass it off as lofi and therefore charming. But ... read more
Billy Nomates cold spoken-word delivery is gripping, entertaining and comedic! That is paired really well with a raw, minimalist post punk production. However, it’s an aesthetic that ran dry for me before runtime was over.

It was exiting to see King Gizzard dive back into electronic music. But if there is something this album proves, it’s that the lizards still has quite a way before mastering this sound like they done with others.
I like that they committed to the electronic sound to 100%. Just knowing stuff like that Micheal is sitting behind the digital drum pad set this time around feels cool. However some of King Gizzard complete electronic makeover comes out as a bit too novelty at times, like the ... read more
I revisited this album in preparation for the release of Halo. I remember listening Badkid a lot in 2020 and liking it, but I was blown away upon return!
I love the blend of post punk, indiepop and lofi that Bakar offers here! There is usually pretty distinct switch ups between the genres within track, talking about songs like Badlands. It’s that kind of thing that could come of as really stale, but on this album every song just becomes a small rollercoaster. Bakar vocal are amazing ... read more
I was kinda curious going into this project since I remember liking Badkid quite a lot. Maybe I went in with the wrong expectations but this album didn’t really do it that well for me. There is a few songs here I like, with that somewhat unique pop instrumentation I’ve come to expect from Bakar. But those are mixed in with tracks that sound way more uninspired or generic. At some points Bakar also branches out into a more stripped down, acoustic sing/songwriter style. Which even if ... read more
It’s kind of ironic how this album describes the world falling apart while simultaneously dropping in quality throughout it’s runtime.
I knew this album wasn’t that great, but I was baffled when I listened to it again recently. There are a few songs here I like (mainly in the first third of the track list), but holy shit this album dips low! This album sounds unfinished, both in terms mixing and song writing. There is a lot of creativity and cool ideas on display here, but ... read more
This album is kinda like watching a Tarantino movie. You know it’s good, even if you don’t know exactly why. But that doesn’t really matter because either way it’s highly entertaining following it through! Also, putting it on will scare the hoes.
Wild, creative and extremely fun!

As a big fan who hasn’t listened to Ben in a couple of years, returning to a new project of his was an interesting experience. What became most notable was Ben’s approach song writing. It’s usually very specific in topic and clear I description. Yet, Ben finds small but powerful ways to flip and expand these niece themes. This approach is to me where a lot of Ben’s charm as an artist comes from. However there are songs on this album, like “Exhausting Lover”, ... read more
Straight up ear candy trough and trough!
I was surprised as to how much I enjoyed this project, considering how I usually don’t listen to pop in this genre. But Caroline’s stunning vocals paired amazingly engineered and colorful production just instantly won me over. There are so many small details here which make every re-listen worth it. Beyond almost every song on here being an ear worm, there is a good variety in sound, beats and moods as well. The pacing of the album is great! ... read more
For long time Blur fans, this album might be a little bit of a letdown. But as a long time Damon fan, it was very nice to get something this year where it seems like there was real passion put behind it. I won’t lie. There are a few snoozer moments here, typical for anything Damon has been involved in for the last few years. But there are also great deal of well orchestrate, heartfelt songs with gripping lyrics and real great emotion behind them. There’s a sorrow theme throughout ... read more
On Exploited, Enjoy returns with a raw, punky and acoustic sound. His signature lofi quality is still here like usual. The album feels reminiscent to some of his early works, like the “Deep Cuts” albums. Although at times maybe a little to much? There is nothing wrong about this record. It’s fast, consistent, high energy and on some tracks Enjoy gives us lyrics about his career that seems extra personal. But with that being said, I can’t help but feel that this is ... read more
The messy and disorienting album cover perfectly reflects the uninspired and unfocused state of this project.
As a long time Gorillaz fan, this was an extremely disappointing release. In terms of themes and narrative, this album feel lackluster and unfocused compared to a lot of their previous work. Not every Gorillaz project has to be a concept album in order to be good. However, Cracker Island clearly wants to be one, but doesn’t try that hard. The features leaves a lot to be desired. ... read more
Thrilling, captivating and grim. There is a lot of moments on this record where I want to make a comparison to another artist, but the inspiration is never clear enough to pinpoint. Opus Kink has really woven together something truly unique here! The best way I can describe it is like a horn driven punk rollercoaster through war trenches, the wild west and the land of the dead. Loved it!
