For a moment, I caught a glimpse of that feeling when I first heard of a SOPHIE song. Because for what it’s worth the music does sound inspired if not a complete recreation of some old tracks from her. I apologize to GRRL if that sounds like a disservice to their music but I only mean it in the best way possible. Every track, you can absorb the electric energy generated by every beat. My only issue is that some tracks just seem repetitive and don’t know when to stop just enough for ... read more
This reminded me so much of How to Dress Well. Interesting dance pop album that doesn't fully get there but guarantees not to waste your time still.
My favorite modern folk artist today. Listened to this on my ride home and felt so relaxed and entranced. Although nothing groundbreaking here, you are presented with music that you can feel and that cares for you.
Drastically different direction in their new album after four years since their last one. Incredibly electric first listen. Some don’t quite work for me but the as a whole, this was such an exquisite return for this band.
Not unlistenable. It’s your typical Americana, singer-songwriter type of album but in some songs you can hear that she’s trying to do something different. Unfortunately, not enough for me to be blown away.
Unfathomable how creative and explosive a 72-year-old artist is with her sound especially given such a wildly different and completely opposite background. This exact sound is how I want the next Charli xcx record to be. Brash, unrestraint, assertive. Leave it to Kim Gordon to show you how much fun you can have in producing music. This unawareness and disregard to outside opinions and mainstream appeal. That’s how I want every female musician to be. Not sure if current mainstream pop ... read more
The second half is so much better and I’m relieved that it was because this new album is so not up to par with Playing Robots Into Heaven. Tracks like “Doesn’t Just Happen” and “Rest of Your Life” saved the album for me. Perhaps it’s because I prefer when James is in his electronic area or around it at least. Great album artwork too.
Don’t you just love it when you press play on an album for the first time and you immediately surrender to it right at the first beat. It’s like your body knows it’s meant to consume it at that exact moment. Polly Mackey aka Art School Girlfriend yet again delivers a body of work so evident of passion and escapism. This passion in melancholic electronic music and the eventual escape brought by it. It’s something resonant and poignant. “Down the Line” itself ... read more
Maria BC pretty much is a perfect artist for me. This new album definitely solidified that claim. My favorite aspect of her music is just how much organically heavy the production weighs on your chest. Easily one of my favorites this year and I’m glad she’s back. This holy trifecta of artists, Maria BC, Grouper, and Midwife, is the reason of my will to continue on living. They make me feel calm in the hint of panic and anxiety.
Best album titled Cerulean is still Baths’ but this is an excellent contender. Don’t you just love it when an album cover perfectly encapsulates the wholeness of the record’s sonic? This was most definitely a sci-fi, epic experience. Crazy collection of featured artists.
Charli has reached new heights with this record. So many thoughts that I could spend all day talking about what’s to love about here. Instead I’m gonna highlight just how proud I am of her and this trajectory with her artistry. At this point, she can’t disappoint me in any way. Every song from this is a testament to her dedication to her craft and vision.
Production here is immaculate and also very liminal space sounding. Right up my alley. Incredible listen through and through.
Love it when an all-female band delivers, especially in a genre where males are dominating.
Decent enough blackgaze. Was not bored when I listened to it but perhaps will not listen again in my spare time.
Hypnotizing and trippy. What more can you expect from an Animal Collective member. RV Envy definitely is one of my favorite tracks to ever come out this year. It’s indescribable. It has to be experienced. Just like the rest of the album.
We need to put an end to this kind of sound. Please, lord god help us. And those weird ass interludes. Nothing but incomprehensible, pretentious nonsense. A chop at a drag race popstar maxi challenge has better lyrics than this.
This is the closest I will ever get to being fucked with the most beautiful, enormous penis but through my ears. Relentless, palpable, and galvanizing. Gesaffelstein has brought back the unexplainable magic that is a live album. Almost detached my head from all that intense head movements I was making. I will do it over and over again.
(Note: This is 100 for me but I don't wanna mess up my Best of 2025 albums that is shown on my profile as I only want original studio ... read more
Still amazed to this day by how she blossomed into her artistry. The music she makes, although to a certain genre, she makes it uniquely hers and the music is stunning as it is aggressive. Unravel is just amazing.
My struggle with her is how she just copies the voice of the artist that she thinks fits the certain song she’s making. One minute she’s Ariana, next she’s Billie. No originality. No identity. But neither of those artist can make songs like yes baby and make you mine so points to her for that.
