Green Day - 39/Smooth

>>>albums of the 90s - '39/Smooth' by 'Green Day'<<<

'39/Smooth' is Green Day's debut studio album released in 1990. While literally every single track on this album is catchy and fun to listen to, it's hard to find somewhat of a consistency due to the album's length and the amount of tracks. There also isn't any experimentation which makes '39/Smooth' as basic as it can get in terms of 90s (Pop-)Punk. As already said, it's pretty fun to listen to and the songs sound good, ... read more

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Solar Fire

>>>random prog rock albums - 'Solar Fire' by 'Manfred Mann's Earth Band'<<<

'Solar Fire' is another Progressive Rock album I really wanted to listen to and review. I found its vinyl in a random thrift shop and I got it for five bucks. That's actually a fair price for an album by a band you like with it not even having many scratches on the record and having an actual good sound quality. I instantly fell in love with this album's sound, featuring so many catchy melodies and ... read more

Jethro Tull - Under Wraps

>>>random prog rock albums - 'Under Wraps' by 'Jethro Tull'<<<

I totally get why this album's rating is so low on every website, it's incredible how boring this is. The CD version I listened to is almost an hour long and every track sounds like the most generic 80s electric pop song you could possibly imagine. Therefore it's kind of sad how bad this album is without even sounding terrible at all. 'Under Wraps' is the pinnacle of uninteresting music released by an otherwise ... read more

>>>random prog rock albums - '2112' by 'Rush'<<<

I had very high expectations going into this record because of its actual high score and the amount of ratings on this website. A lot of good Progressive Rock albums or even bands' whole careers don't have a single rating on albumoftheyear.org which made me, as a Prog Rock fan, think that '2112' will be something very special I was always missing out on. While it's long intro seemed very promising at first, the rest of the ... read more

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced

>>>Jimi Hendrix #1 - Are You Experienced<<<

I would have really wanted to give this album a higher score than I finally did because I love Jimi Hendrix' music in general with his band 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience'. The main problem here is that my three favorite songs that have been released on any version of this album aren't on the tracklist of the original release. I'm talking about 'Purpe Haze' which is without a doubt my all-time favorite song by Jimi, 'Hey Joe' which is ... read more
