I haven't listened to the whole album, I'm giving this a 10 just for "The Cat Is Dead", why no one told me about this song?, this is one of the most emotional, sad and human songs I ever heard, about someone grieving for his cat, this made me cry every time i listened to it, it's sad that it didn't make into "All the Pretty Little Horses" (can you imagine if this was the closer to the album, after "Patripassian"?).
The best thing in this album is the long ambient instrumental sections, where Jimmy Page crafts these really forlorn, atmospheric and otherwordly textures, by just screwing around with violin bows, echoplex pedals and theremins. The mood increases significantly when Robert Plant shuts his mouth.
Revolution 9 is one of the most fascinating pieces of music ever created, and is severely overhated. I still remember the first time i heard, when I was 8 years old, in the dark. It scared the shit out of me
My favourite album ever. It breaks the rating system, 10 is not enough.
It has some weak tracks, but listening it front-to-back, it plays almost like a symphony. It's a very solid record, which gets a lot of undeserved hate, mostly, because people keep comparing it to The Wall. Also, Two Suns In The Sunset is one of the best Pink Floyd songs.
The Seer gives me a feeling similar to reading a Dostoevsky novel, especially The Brothers Karamazov. My interpretation of the music is that it pictures somebody who knows God exists, but rejects him anyway, in a an act of revolt against all the suffering and misery that He allows to exist in reality. At the end of the album, after 1 hour and 58 minutes of nightmarish and dreadful music, in the last minute of Apostate, when you think the song is slowing down and finally concluding the album ... read more
By far the worst Swans record. With that being said: 7.5/10.
FAVOURITE: Let It Come Down, Saved, God Damn The Sun, See No More
LEAST FAVOURITE: Jane Mary, Cry One Tear
