My hate for this album cover does enough to bring this score down... joking aside and while I scroll to not see that image, this album isn't bad. It's strongly produced and has some great sound quality to it and strangely enough that does it less favors as it loses it's unique quality in that her voice would work behind behind some live-sounding acoustic instrumentals. I know Melodrama is super popular and spoken well of, and I've heard her music in passing, but I didn't know what to expect here and it was more thought provoking and intentionally made than I expected. What might be peak Billie Eilish for me, there's a lot of the alternative and rock production in some of the songs that made her previously pop off, but she also introduces a pop-y downtempo acoustic vibe that starts the album, and then track to track there's some alternative and edgy moments in the production like Goldwing which starts and ends as two different vibes, I Didn't Change My Number, and Overheated, she's gotta keep those kicks and snares, even when the ... read more

Now that Killing Me Softly is always playing at my work, this album's been on my mind more than ever. It's such a good collection of songs, and I intend to discover more of Lauryn Hill and the Fugees, but this is probably their peak and magnum opus. Aside from the previously mentioned hit, Zealots, Fu-Gee-La, and The Score are so good. I love the production and how it sounds live, especially in No Woman, No Cry, and how Many Mics.
