Yes, I did listen to the full thing, and yes, it is unironically better than Dookie (the Green Day album).

This is an amazing album. To start, the guitar work on this album is heavenly, but I think everyone knows what a legend Jimi is when it comes to the guitar. Something that Jimi is underrated on is lyricism he is genuinely amazing at it and no one talks about it. He paints such a vivid picture with his words. He isn't a slouch when it comes to vocals either. The psychedelic elements on this album are almost like taking drugs (I assume). Exemplified by the ... read more

I don't have much to say about this album, but I'll try. This is a very well-put-together album, but in my opinion, it's not at its best if you are listening to it intently; it's better study music than anything. I'm not saying it's a bad album by itself, though. Throughout the album, it carries a calming vibe, and I appreciate that. I did get this confused with that one Hum album once, and that made me sad.

I haven’t heard the album but I’m really anti ai art. The only reason this is a 1 because it burn
Thanks @atomous for the rec (go follow if you haven't)
This album is a masterclass in sampling. This is basically an instrumental album, while there are lyrics they serve more as a part of the beat they aren't necessarily bad but they aren't stellar either. The beats are really hazy and psychedelic. I can't really do a long review on this one right now. I can tell it'll be a slow burn that will grow on me

This album wasn't really my thing, tbh. There were definitely moments of greatness, but I was never that big on chamber folk. Lyrically, this album is stellar; if lyrics were all that mattered, this would be a high 9, but the soundscapes don't do it for me. Beth Gibbons is a great vocalist, but I'm not a huge fan of the instrumentation, and I couldn't tell you why. Overall, I recognize this album is technically ... read more

This album is very different from every other Nina Simone album I listened to, and it might be my favorite. This is definitely her most consistent album; starting with "Do I Move You?", it never considerably drops in quality. I would like to state that soul is not my favorite genre, but this might have changed that. All my problems with previous Simone albums are completely gone with this one. The instrumentation is much better because this is a blues ... read more
This album is genuinely incredible. Before I really start this review, I need to get this fact out of the way, this is not a lyrical album, but I will not be taking away any points away from it for that reason, as that is not the artist's intention. This is my third Lucy Bedroque project, and it did not disappoint. Comparatively to their other projects, it is a lot more rough in its mixing, but I think that works in its favor, as the rough mixing allows the beats to shine in a way that ... read more

Bro cooked with this recommendation. Conway is my favorite Griselda member, so I'd been meaning to check out this tape anyways, and the timing really couldn't be better because it just dropped on streaming. Now, to get into the album, the beats on this thing are grimy and the rapping is crazy. If I did have a complaint with the album, it's that Conway got outrapped on pretty much every song, but that is only ... read more
This album isn’t necessarily underrated but it’s under appreciated by some people. Carti isn’t the strongest vocalist or lyricist I’d actually go as far to say he’s a bad lyricist (ik such a hot take) but the production goes crazy on this thing. I also think it is ridiculously well sequenced. Overall this album is a must listen imo

Lucki is washed. The first song was ok, but the rest are weak. The instrumentals aren't good, and the performances are bad as well. I don't know what else to say this album is surface level, so it gets a surface level review.
(I just realized that i didn't add a favorite and final rating but I don't think I will)

This album is certainly an experience. On all accounts, the album should be bad: the mixing is rough, the vocals aren't that great (in isolation), and the consistency in the sound is... actually, that part is pretty good. Let's get into some of the songs. The album starts off with "Sunday Morning"; it is a very accessible track overall, but when the second song, "I'm Waiting for the Man," started playing, I kind of understood the ... read more

I found this album to be fairly generic. Granted that could be because I'm reviewing it in the modern day, but I think we as enjoyers of art should hold albums up to modern standards. I respect what it did for feminism, but again I just don't think it is as good in the modern age. One of my biggest hot takes is that "Respect" is a 6/10 song. It's not that it's necessarily bad, it just has parts that aren't that great and it is ... read more

This album is ridiculously unique. Every corner of this album has sounds that you can't find in many other places, and the fact that it is one of the more influential records ever made and that it was made in 1967 makes that fact even more crazy. Starting with "Break On Through (To the Other Side)," it really never has a flaw. The only thing that could be kind of bad is the slower moments in songs like "I Looked At You." Now there is one ... read more

This album is a large step up from The Sounds of Silence. It takes what I like from that album and hones in on it. They are very angry on this album, but not at specific things (one of the things they were angry at was Bob Dylan, which... why?). It starts with an excellent vibe with the first song, "Scarborough Fair / Canticle," but I was a bit disappointed that it didn't carry that tone throughout the rest of the album. Overall, this album is ... read more
