I got hooked into hearing this through after being blown away by the coldly beautiful 'Midnight,' but it's honestly a serene album throughout its runtime. I'd recommend this album to anyone who says Coldplay sold out after Viva la Vida... with the caveat that they should skip 'A Sky Full of Stars' (I still like it no matter how out-of-place it is).
I love it more every time I come back to it. It's one of my favorite examples of a straightforward singer-songwriter album, with the simple instrumentation and absolutely stellar vocal performance from Julien creating a mesmerizing, intimate listening experience that's far more than the sum of its parts. Definitely my favorite live Radiohead recording that isn't From the Basement. Solid performances from the Kid A / Amnesiac era, and it happens to have my favorite version of True Love Waits, a song that almost singlehandedly justifies this album's existence.
C&L didn’t click with me until I listened to this version of it. Hearing a more instrumentally lush version of the album wish flourishes of the synth work from Age of Adz really helped me appreciate how much was going on in every song. Going back to the comparatively anemic studio version, I actually appreciated its simplicity, like being able to recognize a skeleton after seeing the organism living and breathing.
