holy sgit what the fuck is wrong with this guy, how the fuck can you hear something as beautifully full of soul and human pain as a crow looked at me and be like "uhg its whiney and stupid" like actually fuck this guy im so pissed off
if this is ragebait then it completely worked im thoroughly enraged

The Velvet Underground - Squeeze

please tell me theres a good reason why they fell off this bad

OsamaSon - psykotic

honestly pretty great, ive never heard anything quite like it. as someone fairly new to rage (i took a long time to get around to listening to carti after listening to the first few tracks of wlr and not liking them) this project seems like a really great step towards advancing the sounds that make it so interesting. its ear-bleedy, but in a way i kinda adore.

Favorte Track: Maag Dump
Least Favorite: Gintama (i actually kinda like it but the vocals arent great)

Lucy Bedroque - Sororite

glutmother giveth and glutmother taketh away

Favorite Track: Kelly Kelly
Least Favorite Track: (idk which one i cant remember any i didnt like)

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
95

didnt write a review when i first listened to this one bc i liked it but didnt have the strongest feelings ever, but omg its grown on me so much since. i adore folk rock in any and all capacities so this was kinda an easy sell for me, but the amazing blend of lo-fi indie production with the fusion of folk instrumentals and grungier rock stuff plays super well into the melancholy vibe of a lot of the songs. Genuinely cant think of a single song from front to back that isnt amazing (also holy ... read more

J Dilla - Donuts

as much as i love love love LP! by jpegmafia (the offline version anyway), this might take the spot from it for best production of all time. the sampling across the whole thing is mindblowing, unlike pretty much anything ive ever heard, along with the signature J-Dilla speed changing, unquantized beats. its crazy to me that each of the songs on here are like 2 minutes to 30 seconds, they feel so dense and lush that none of them feel short or cut off too quickly. highkey every relisten makes me ... read more

Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
98

fucking amazing omg. i might be a bit biased because of how I personally relate to the lyrics (as a queer person currently dealing with a lot of really bad mental health stuff) but it was amazing. i havent heard the 2011 version, but the instrumentation and vocals and production are all amazing and the impact of will's voice along with the brilliant songwriting and indie feel give it an insane emotional impact.

Favorite Track: Beach Life-in-Death
Least Favorite Track: Nervous Young ... read more

Boards of Canada - Geogaddi (Japanese Bonus Track)

the final track is really great in contributing to the tone and sound of the album while also ending on an pretty heartwarming note. the album feels more complete with it imo

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl
38

the first half is like a 5/10 but god does it fall off. omg the run of actually romantic to wish list to wood to cancelled to honey is one of the most harrowing ive heard (all of them suck ass). the instrumentation and production actually isnt that bad (honestly better than TTPD) but the sound is overall pretty unoriginal. the charli diss song (actually romantic) is so bad like omfg. also actually kinda liked the closer with sabrina carpenter but it acts like the album did literally anything at ... read more

The Conet Project - Recordings of Shortwave Numbers Stations
90

unironically amazing. like, i get there isnt much artistic value in an unorganized compilation of radio recordings but the vibe they produce is unmatched by almost anything. also i didnt know the signalis number station was real, which is cool

The Caretaker - Everywhere at the end of time
100

listened to this whole thing a few years ago on a long drive and it caused one of the worst dissociative episodes ive ever had

10/10 no notes absolute masterpiece

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
96

this has slowly grown on me from my first listen and its now definitely one of my favorite pieces of music ever. i'm a pretty big fan of pink floyd, and SOYCD pt. 1 has to be their best song in my opinion (besides maaaaybe Echoes). the orchestration and conceptualization across this album are 10/10 and wish you were here genuinely makes me want to cry every time i hear it.

Favorite Track: Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5)
Least Favorite Track: Welcome to the Machine

Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit

haunting masterpiece

American Quartet - Presenting The American Quartet
NR

yall idk if this date is right bc the first song is "youre a grand old flag" which was first performed in 1906 so idk how this can be a 1901 album even though thats what the copyright says

Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
95

underrated asf, cant believe this is only 86. like tbh this deserves at least an 89 imo. genuinely never heard an album that sounds anything like this, almost sounds like for hip hop what post rock is for rock. (post-hip hop?).

Favorite Track: Knees
Least Favorite Track: Smoke Don't Clear

Chance the Rapper - The Big Day
20

really shit but like, some of the songs have redeeming qualities ig. like the intro track is pretty listenable if you ignore some of the horrible bars (sounds like a disney original soundtrack song but whatever) and hot showers so bad its unironically pretty great.

Favorite Track: Hot Shower
Least Favorite Track: The Big Day

DEMONDICE - DEMONDICE EP
5

top 10 most agonizing listening experience for me (its so cringe like omfg how do you make this without realizing how terrible it is)

Favorite Track: C U (has a teeny tiny bit of genuine emotional weight within the tidal wave of cringe)
Least Favorite Track: Snake Eyes

Swans - The Seer
95

i honestly am not really sure where to begin with this album. i adore soundtracks for the blind and wanted to listen to the so-called "swans trilogy" of this, to be kind, and the glowing man, and, after finishing, this was definitely the standout one for me (not to say that i didnt think the others were amazing, because i did). i absolutely adore the weird, creepy, occult vibes throughout the album, as well as its inclusion of cosmic horror-y ideas in a way ive never seen in music ... read more

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
95

Fucking amazing, damn near perfect front to back. Ive never heard anything by quadeca before, but from what I understand he usually makes predominantly hip hop, which is why this project left me completely suprirsed. its often beautiful and emotional (the second to last song had me trying so hard not to cry in the cafe i listened to it in) and frequently is brilliant lyrically. loved the more hip-hop focus on tracks like The Great Bakunawa and, overall, the range of the project while still ... read more
