I would like to start off by saying that this is not nearly as much as a disappointment as chromakopia was. Probably because this didn't come with a nearly 4 year waiting time. Tyler also made it pretty clear he didn't give a shit about the rollout for this album at all, so I didn't really have high expectations. I heard the first two tracks and thought he dropped a classic but unfortunately the rest of the album played. It's all so mediocre and nothing really stands out ... read more
Thought I was gonna hate it based on all the online discourse surrounding it. I actually love it. I even liked the "trash" songs like GNX and peakaboo. Songs like luther, dodger blue, and the heart pt. 6 are so melodic and relaxing. pt. 6 is easily the best in the whole heart series. Just an overall banger west coast rap album. I know tarnishd gonna cook my ass for this
That intro had me so worried I though I was in for another overrated "classic" rap album. Thankfully we had tracks 2-8 which was one of the best runs I've ever head in an album. Second half is where is starts to fall off a tad bit but the beginning is so strong idrc.
FAVORITE TRACKS: Can't Knock the Hustle, Politics As Usual, Brooklyn's Finest, Dead Presidents II, Feelin' It, 22 Two's, Can I Live, Coming of Age, Cashmere Thoughts, Bring It On, Regrets
The song that started the mustard beef 😲. Also this is NOT memphis rap
Beyonce and Kendrick were terrible the beat is trash what more is there to say
There wasn't much single potential on this album but even so Idk how this managed to make it.
Same gripes I mentioned on the OG, but the heart p5 makes it all just a little bit better.
Kendrick gave us GKMC which told the story of the life of a young boy in Compton. This album tells us the story about Kendrick himself as a person. This is tragic. It's so unbelievably boring. This was such a blur I don't even remember how to describe most of the songs. I can't remember the vibe. It's just bad.
FAVORITE TRACKS: United in Grief, N95, We Cry Together, Purple Hearts, Count Me Out, Savoir (Interlude), Auntie Diaries
Genuinely irredeemable song nobody here does well
