Doing what Tozokuu did and only rating based off the new tracks. They're mostly just good except for WHY I'm even doing this review and that's their cover of Do You Believe by the Cardigans. That song for me personally is a legit 100. Like not only is just a great cover of a great song, it's like a super underrated and amazing Deftones song. It's like alt melodic metal with shoegaze aspects and is like nihilistic in a good way. Listen to that song alone guys it's S ... read more
This album is one I knew I'd enjoy going into it. Not only have I only ever heard good things about this album and the Cocteau Twins in general, but this is also the one that inspired shoegaze the most I believe. I will say that this is so close to being a perfect album, it has a LOT of highs and great moments Cherry-Coloured Funk alone is a generational banger then the self-titled track there are some amazing songs on here. It's brilliant from beginning to end and captures ... read more
I thought this album was really enjoyable. It's one of the more solid and consistent albums I've listened to recently. This album has a very persistent haze throughout, the song named as such just proving that, which makes this project extremely calming at times like a nice faint static going through a noisy stream of thoughts.
Without this album many of my all time favorites and most of yours wouldn't exist at all. This album is why genres like shoegaze and noise rock exist. It can be a little daunting at times and it is very experimental even by modern standards. This album stands as a landmark for what noise could mean in music. With TVU noise became just another instrument. If you ever want a blue print for a Wall of Sound and what that means, listen to this album. A fair warning for those going in who ... read more
