brown sugar sees d’angelo’s debut and hearing his incredibly alluring and beautiful presence over some of the dreamiest R&B beats ive heard makes this an incredibly replayable album.
half the songs on iceman got drake doing the same diary entry flow where hes kinda just talking over the beat and it is DRAINING bro. theres also a beat switch every other song that are almost never better than the beat before it, most of these songs got no memorable hooks, the mixing on some of these songs feels very demo-ish, and while he is rapping nice, with make them cry especially being a highlight for me, theres nothing standout or really captivating apart from a few good lines. business ... read more
somebody must have been lacing these 2015 trap beats with coke, but DEFINITELY needed more bars about jizz
more of a vibe-y album. feels like silksonic afterthoughts with no anderson paak.
if this really is the end for cole, then its a damn good album to end HIS career on. I feel like a lot of people wanted him to do something different and more anthemic but sticking to his guns and playing at what he knows best worked out fairly well imo. surprisingly, I wasn’t all too bothered by the runtime of 1hour and 41 minutes. its a bit difficult to keep your audience invested in all 24 tracks but cole manages to glide over all of these beats in a way that makes it amusing ... read more
stretched far wider than it needed to be for what essentially boils down to 21 songs of 1-2 minute vignettes. thankfully theres at least a couple of songs here that stand out no thanks to getting your brain numbed to this sad boy tiktok background interlude music with piano notes playing every now and then. its fine, but i would rather these concepts of ideas of songs got passed the 3 minute mark and were fully fleshed out.
rocky might just be the weakest part of dont be dumb. it feels like experimentation is at the forefront of this rather than rockys personality or emotion. some fun tracks tho!
some of the strongest and most memorable performances in JIDs catalogue land on this project. what holds this back from being his best is simply the slower parts in the middle, but even then I can see them growing on me later.
Mr. Quadeca once again brings us to a completely new vision of his with “Vanisher, Horizon Scraper” and the best way I can describe it is that it sounds ALIVE. There are very few albums out there that I can wholeheartedly say I’m immersed into its world from TRACK ONE. The entire album feels like it has such a clear focus and handle on what exactly it wants to execute, making sure every little detail in the production and assembly is portraying a different part of the overall ... read more
beats pretty good , drake sounds better than his last few performances so we’ll see if this album is any good
