While still working with a very raw vocal sound and some murky production, the writing and themes on Rivers & Robots' debut full-length EP, Take Everything, is phenomenal. Many of the instrumentals are creative, exciting, and emotional. Standout moments on this album are the trio of tracks called The Bridegroom, The King, and The Judge, which all reflect different aspects of the character of God through fitting instrumentals and wonderful words. This album took me a bit to warm up to, because it’s a bit abstract and a lot of the songs are very minimalist. Cudi’s vocals just don’t work alone at certain points, but he knows how to write a catchy hook. He definitely established his signature sound.
