I heavily dislike AJR, but this song proves that this site has auto-hate purely based off of the band the song came from, which is incredibly unfair. This song deserves to be in the green, and if it came from any band it would certainly be appropriately rated. This song still features bad instrumental production, but for whatever reason it doesn't bug me here as much as it has on their other songs. The lyrics seem to be good, and his singing actually fits here. If the rest of their next LP is ... read more
This song is lost potential... the drop before the chorus is weak, the emphasis on pop cliches sucks, and the part that interests me, that being the world culture stuff, is minimized.
I would give it a 1000 but this website does not account for the genius this band brings.
I gave this song a shot, and it's not for me... I am not the hugest fan of AJR, in fact I'm hyped for the new album release so I can react to it with my friend for all the wrong reasons, but this song is bad. The violin makes no sense at all, the lyrics are the same old "I'm a ten year old in an 30-year old body" crap we've been seeing in half their songs, and yeah, just same old boring crap. It sounds like all their older songs, just more tiktok/adhd friendly, yippee. If I listen to ... read more
Coldplay is very much an overhated band, and this album is in my opinion their best. It's a very chilled out form of their future style and just feels like it has more personality than their later stuff. My opinion has drastically changed on this LP, because when I used to try to act like a music critic without actually liking music at all I wrote this entire album off as a cheap radiohead knockoff. It does have similarities but you just have to get over it and enjoy the music.
This is a risk that really paid off. Having your album themed after the French revolution can either be a positive or make the whole record feel like a gimmick, and I'm happy to say these songs don't feel forced at all. The instrumental style they selected works great, the production is crisp, this is a great album. It's tied with a rush of blood for me personally. The title track has SUCH GOOD PRODUCTION! Man!
This album is trash and a step down in every way from their last LP. Every song sounds literarily exactly the same and almost never deviates from the exact same formula they reuse over and over again. Victorious is the most average song you could possibly make, head up almost works until you realize it's the same song as the thing you just listened to, then top of the world- Listen to any band or artist trying to do pop rock, and it will be better- That's how I feel about all of these tracks ... read more
Bloated but good. This album has too many filler songs and could have been 10 tracks, but as a Cohesive project it's fine. The highs are really good, and the lulls are still somewhat entertaining. My favorite track is trouble in Town, the arabesque.
In this LP, Coldplay seems to be trapped in a state between what they want to do and what sells, and they try doing both. It doesn't work too well in a lot of cases. It sounds like washed up kid A a lot of the time, but the biggest crime is the way every song sounds almost the same. That's either a good thing (Cohesive project) or a bad thing (boring). Also sky full of stars is terrible and makes no sense in this album's tracklist, similar to Orphans off of Everyday Life.
Always in my head- ... read more
