This album turns 5 years old today, and it's pretty good
Edit: 73-91
this isn't pretty good, this is pretty great, very underrated record
While I love everything clipping. has made, this very much included, it's not as fantastic as the self titled or their last 2 horrorcore albums, the production on here is absolutely genius and the vocals are great, I can't help compare it to the self titled, which I see as this albums less abrasive but harder hitting cousin, overall this is a fantastic record but it's not their best
Devon Hendryx discography* deep dive: 4/4! THE GHOST~POP TAPE
When I found out that Devon Hendryx existed and Peggy made music before he was known as Peggy, I was expecting some good albums, I was not expecting arguably his best album
The music released under the Devon Hendryx name is interesting because you sort of have this progression from hip hop to pop, JOECHILLWORLD and The Rockwood Escape Plan (And I assume Generation Y but I haven't heard it) are hip hop, they are fairly similar ... read more
Devon Hendryx discography* deep dive 3.5/4, ❤️
A good EP with some good cloud rap songs, not much to say
Devon Hendryx discography* deep dive: 3/4, Dreamcast Summer Songs
When I decided to go through the Devon Hendryx discography to hear the early music of my all time favourite artist, for one I was not expecting a calm, serene, nostalgic, and at points beautiful instrumental album, but I was also not expecting to hear something of his best material ever. I love Jpegmafia and I knew going into the earlier Devon Hendryx releases that I would at least enjoy them, but I genuinely think this is some ... read more
Devon Hendryx discography* deep dive: 2/4, The Rockwood Escape Plan
Basically just a slightly better JOECHILLWORLD, it improves on the production, rapping, and writing, not by much, but it is better, and the intro to track 3 is disgusting
edit: 88-80
nah what was I on no way is this better than JOECHILLWORLD
Devon Hendryx discography* deep dive: 1/4, JOECHILLWORLD
Jpegmafia is my favourite artist of all time, a while ago he re-released the Ghost Pop Tape, which I just assumed was some old ep or something that I hadn't heard, that's when I found out that Devon Hendryx existed and my favourite artist had an entire other discography that I had to listen to, starting with JOECHILLWORLD because it's the first on spotify, overall this just sounds like an earlier peggy before he truly ... read more
The reason I'm only reviewing this now is because I used to review the deluxe edition as this and the tracks added in that, but I'm separating those now because they basically sound like different albums, anyways, it's peak, and I have nothing else to say
Edit: 98-100
probably my favourite rap album of all time, or at least the one I probably go back to the most
well that's only kinda true, I haven't listened to this album in a while until editing this review, but ... read more
I can't give this a 100 because Atrocity Exhibition is his masterpiece, but wow this album is great, I honestly might like this more at points, but Atrocity Exhibition is consistently flawless, this is sometimes flawless, it feels like a double album honestly, the 2nd half having a very different sound than the first, but the whole way through this album is great, Danny might be the goat, I wouldn't say he's ever made an album that isn't at least great
I've reviewed a lot of good albums, I've reviewed a decent amount of bad albums, but I haven't reviewed many mid albums, yep, my entire motivation for listening to this was that I've heard mixed opinions on it, and my verdict? Yeah it's mid, it isn't horrible, Yung Gravy has done worse, but it isn't good, I think the only way Gravy can ever be decent is when he's being carried by bbno$ on the Baby Gravy albums, but yeah, not much to say, boring, it ... read more
I'm not too familiar with J-Rock, but maybe I need to listen to it more, this is fantastic, the vocal performances, instrumentation, it's great. I'm not sure if this is a soundtrack album or what, I know it has some connection to an anime and the actual band is fictional, but if it IS a soundtrack I need to watch this anime apparently, and if it is a soundtrack, even though it is a fictional band I really hope they release more stuff, I know they have some EPs that I'll have ... read more
I want to start off by saying I fell off listening to Sophie HARD when this dropped. I didn't even know this was unfinished music i thought they were just releasing old tracks until I listened to it, this is one of those posthumous releases where you can tell something is off, it doesn't feel finished, because it wasn't, this is dissapointing as someone who wasn't the biggest fan of Sophie at the time of release, and looking back now that I'm really into her music ... read more
Yung Gravy sucks, but bbno$ isn't too bad, it's a fun album with goofy lyrics and enjoyable production
Whitest boy in the game, it's fun, more enjoyable than it isn't, that's what I think of most of his music
Holy shit this thing is loud and crazy and I love it, one of Xiu Xiu's best albums, I would put this up there with A Promise and Twin Peaks, it's great
