The project marks a newfound vulnerability for the Atlanta star, while retaining the booming trap sonics that made mixtapes like Astronaut Status and Dirty Sprite so compelling.
Monster proves to be one of the better mixtapes of this year and reassures Future ability to keep things interesting without over saturating himself with new music.
At least with Future, unlike other artists in the mixtape game, one tends to get a sizeable helping of tracks every bit worthy of the upgrade to album placement, and that holds true with Monster.
For a career previously littered with hot summer days, Monster is far more autumnal than anyone — and most importantly Future himself — should ever aspire to be.

hip hop think tank – episode 2 – Future's investigation
"The Monster"
It starts out brutal, but the subject demands it, Future may be a complete as***le in terms of marriage but he is surely one of the most important contemporary rappers of all time! I don't think I teach it to anyone, many ... read more
The best Trap mixtape of all time, and it's not even close
Honestly, this one of my favorite projects of all time, any genre. When it comes to Trap music, it doesn't get much better than "Monster". After the commercially driven and cheesy "Pluto" as well as "Honest", Future has had enough. "Tried to make me a Pop star and they made a Monster", he later says on "I Serve The Base" from DS2. Future’s discography run pt.4
(I Lwk forgot to add my review for this album because I listened to it a while ago) Monster is one of Future’s most important project as he leans into trap production. But in the process he pioneers a new style of trap with the unique production in this mixtape. Future’s main issue of bloating within his albums isn’t present here so it was nice to listen to a future album without any moment being boring.
Finally listened after listening to a few songs for a couple years. Happy to say that it's excellent
