Tame Impala - End Of Summer
80

First impressions and I think this is great. I kinda expected him to go in this direction considering he was already heading this way when he made The Slow Rush (which I love). As much as his psych rock stuff is my favorite, this is certainly really good, wonderful production and really gives you a visual/feeling similar to the songs title.

My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (Deluxe Edition)
NR

New mixes are great, the originals were very muddy and the new ones definitely clean things up so you can hear everything more clearly. Unfortunately the master is still very loud and compressed though (just as much as the original). but I'd still say this is the best version of the album now

Superheaven - Long Gone
NR

I like the space rock vibes, definitely kinda different from what they did in the past and I'm excited.

Foo Fighters - Soldier

It's a crime that this was taken off streaming. It used to be one of my favorite songs ever, amazing b-side from an amazing album.

David Bowie - David Bowie

Genuinely the most boring album I have ever listened to. It has not aged well at all. It's nothing like anything Bowie released later on. It's not good. Just avoid it.

Car Seat Headrest - There Must Be More Than Blood
100

Okay I've been listening to this constantly for a week now, this is one of the greatest CSH songs ever. The vibe this track has, it's fucking incredible, I don't even know how to describe it. I gave MADLO a listen for the first time today as well and this still blows anything else on the album out of the water.

Big Heavy Stuff - Skin a Cat
100

I have no idea what this song is about, but it is catchy and fun asf. It's a really solid alt rock song.

Paramore - Burning Down the House
100

This is absolutely the perfect band to cover Burning Down the House. Paramore nailed it.

Pond - Neon River
90

Definitely sounds like something that could've released between Beard, Wives, Denim and Hobo Rocket, and I'm all for it. It's strange because Pond has never revisited any previous sounds before. I guess becasue they haven't done that before, this ends up being something new for Pond despite not sounding new. Anyways, they've set my expectations unreasonably high for the new album lol.

Otis McDonald - Scarlet Fire
100

This song honestly goes hard but I can't not think of blowing up earbuds every time I hear it, I've been watching too much DankPods lmao.

Depeche Mode - Shake the Disease
100

Such a good song, really underrated DM song as well

The Beatles - Now And Then
90

Alright, so the song at its core is good. Nothing amazing, just good. But when you listen to it with the context of the original demo and how this finished version came to be, it’s really incredible. It’s got a really cool backstory and I really urge you to watch the official video on it, it’s only 12 minutes but it adds so much to the song. I also think this is a perfect example of how AI can be used in very useful ways for music. I also really like how Paul and Ringo ... read more

glass beach - rare animal

It’s not even next year yet and I can already tell this is gonna be one of my favorite albums of 2024, I am so fucking excited

glass beach - the CIA
100

Well, this was a completely unexpected direction for the band, but I guess I should have expected that coming from glass beach. Took a bit for it to grow on me but I love it now, one of the best singles I’ve heard all year. As much as their first album is amazing, I can already hear a massive improvement.

MGMT - Mother Nature
90

I like it, it’s a solid single and it’s got me interested in the upcoming album

Ozma - Rock and Roll Part Three
96

It’s like an alternative reality where Weezer never released green album and released this for their third album instead. It’s a really solid debut, every song is catchy and makes you wanna sing along. It took a while for the album to finally click with me but I love it now.

R.E.M. - Murmur
100

This album is absolutely phenomenal. Every song here is catchy, and it’s overall got a really calming and chill vibe to it. It also starts off with one of my favorite songs. Definitely one of the greatest alternative rock albums of all time.

R.E.M. - Chronic Town
95

Really solid debut EP, every song here is very catchy

R.E.M. - Radio Free Europe / Sitting Still
100

Radio Free Europe is one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s so catchy, I constantly find myself coming back to it listening to it on repeat, it never gets old. Honestly I prefer this version to the album version, this one has an energy to it that the album version is lacking and it also sounds a little more raw and psychedelic so that’s obviously gonna get bonus points from me. That being said, the album version fits the album much better and I still love it. As for Sitting ... read more

"@TwistedUp valid, but i honestly don't really hear it myself. it feels complete to me, i think the distorted bass almost acts like a guitar, plus all the synths and the production and faint backing vocals, all the many sublte things make the song feel very complete to me"

"nah the song ain't worse cuz it's bass-driven. the driving bass and drums combined with killer vocals and production is everything it needs to be amazing"

"I think Bodies can absolutely fit in a live setting. imo the version on CYC is the best song on that live album, and its just as good as the studio version if not maybe even better. This version lacks so much energy though, and honestly I could say the same for a lot of songs on FFTM."
