Sadly "Achilles Last Stand" sets the bar way too high for the rest of the album to even compete. Sure "Nobody's Fault but Mine" is great and "Tea for One" is good I guess but they don't compare to the 10 minute epic Achilles is.
Wow this is really impressive and caught me off guard, going into this I was expecting a good solid melodeath album but all of these folk, doom and prog metal elements blended with the overall Melodic Death Metal soundscape of the album works brilliantly!
The theming is great which, for those who don't know, the whole album is based in the Kalevala, a compilation of finnish epic poetry from the XIX century so props to Amorphis for this actually being a conceptual album based on their own ... read more
"We have Opeth at home"
Even though I consider this album to be overhated, it's not great and it's too ambitious for its own good. Don't get me wrong I love when bands experiment and try to blend different styles together but c'mon you can't just blast a heavy melodeath tune for it to get abruptly interrupted by traditional swedish folk music.

Honestly one of my absolute favorite ballads oat. Highly recommend listening to the Old Grey Whistle Test version, saxophone solo goes crazy on that one
