Some decent ballads, but mostly it comes across as lethargic.
This album holds a wholly unique place in the metal scene with heavy ambience, influence from shoegaze and alternative rock all the while being incredibly heavy, verging on death-metal-heavy at times, it is unlike anything I have ever heard before, which is exactly what metal does when it's at its best. This *is* metal at its best.
I am continually unimpressed by David Gilmour as he tries to recrate the magic of Pink Floyd, attempts which only serve to highlight how much worse of a songwriter he is than Roger Waters. The best thing I can say about any of the songs on this record is that they are pleasant.
There are a handful of decent tracks, but most of the songs here are slow and boring without being beautiful to make up for it.
