I think what I appreciate most about this album is just the openness of all of these anxieties, probably because at this time in my life I can relate to it a lot. I've been a fan of Maddie Jay's music since about 2018 and it's really rewarding to hear her songwriting evolve since then. She's always been great, but I think that this album showcases some of her best work.
Her sound is also incredibly unique and I have a hard time drawing similarities to other artists. The ... read more
I've listened to this album 5 times now and haven't gotten tired of it. Rather than this album having standout songs, this album has standout moments and they're all over the place. Every song has one or more detail that I am just absolutely in love with. Everything sounds exactly how it should and everything is in its place. The only problem is that the music that accompanied it was unbearable. Even the more enjoyable songs, like Sympathy, felt one note. This album mainly felt like Declan responding to some of the criticisms of his previous albums being "nothing new" by trying to ... read more
Revisiting this album after 4 years is kind of wild. Since my first listen, this album has only gained higher appreciation in my head despite only listening once. Genevieve was a song that I have listened to a lot over the years and I would check out a couple other ones here and there. Simply put, I forgot about the majority of the issues with this album. So revisiting it now was kind of surprising when realizing how many small issues there were with it. I acquired a headache a little over ... read more
