this song is unfortunately "old man yells at cloud" condensed into 4 minutes 7 seconds. that being said...i hate how catchy it is. the lyrics are atrocious and cringe-inducing, but maynard knows how to write a good tune. i wish i could hand him the instrumental of this and say, "yes, good. now write new lyrics and we'll really be talking."

katy perry has long since cemented herself as the world's most out-of-touch and outdated pop artist, but this song is so bad it goes beyond parody. she can say all she wants that it's meant to be satire, but nothing in the actual lyrics points to that - there are elements in the music video that do, but those are two separate narratives. this song is a meanspirited joke.

wow, this blows. deeply boring and unoriginal, can't even make it through the whole album. it reeks of nepo baby industry plant and feels like a poor imitation of 100 other artists who are also boring. most of the points go towards her voice, which really isn't bad - i almost want to see her do some shoegaze or something more interesting, but this whispery corporate acoustic pop brings her down and stifles any potential she may have.
