Sleaford Mods - UK GRIM
50

Some songs are brilliant; others are shockingly awful, but the overarching conclusion that can be taken from 'UK Grim' is that Sleaford Mods are up to their same old tricks. While their unrelenting social commentary often strikes chords in the right places, this album is barely distinguishable from their last and it's for that reason that the outcome remains the same

Hozier - Eat Your Young
57

After so long away from Hozier, unfortunately, 'Eat Your Young' leaves its listeners still hungry

Taylor Swift - Lavender Haze (Remixes)
70

After the 'Anti-Hero' fiasco, seeing 'Taylor Swift releases new remix' is enough to make even the biggest of Swiftie's eyes roll. However, these remixes are genuinely good, and while they may reflect more of the guest artist than Taylor herself, is that not the point? The Jungle remix is a for-sure highlight, and a collaboration I (a huge Taylor and huge Jungle fan) would have never seen coming

David Bowie - Let's Dance (40th Anniversary Remix E.P.)
50

No remix will ever beat the original

100 gecs - 10,000 gecs
68

While the album is plenty of fun, and sees the duo moving into wider influences, the 4 year wait for new material causes it to have a sour tone, and also means it's more likely to underwhelm

Gracie Abrams - Good Riddance
86

I fully expected this album to be overhyped and not match its popularity, but the moment I heard the opening notes of 'Best' I understood that my assumption was wrong. While I adore many artists of a similar calibre, namely Olivia Rodrigo and Phoebe Bridgers, I never really gave Gracie Abrams the time of day (or 'the time and breath I know you're saving' if you're looking for an intertextual reference) and I'm only starting to regret that now. While her lyrics can often border on cliché, ... read more

The Luka State - More Than This
58

I really wanted to be into The Luka State, but this album is almost painfully average, with a lot of songs sounding same-y. 'Stick Around' and 'More Than This' are brief highlights; if all the songs on this album were similar, then it would be commendable. Unfortunately, the band seem to fall short on the majority of the other tracks, and while they're not bad in essence, they leave you craving something more, and are often nothing compared to the band's previous album 'Fall In Fall Out'. ... read more

Jake Whiskin - Jake Whiskin (Deluxe)
90

Brilliant songwriting from a Leeds prodigy, wonderfully delivered and amazingly put together. Another great release from Dance to the Radio!

Tommy Lefroy - Rivals
84

Upon pressing play, I'd seemingly ignored this EP's cover art entirely as I was pleasantly surprised to hear a female voice, having assumed that Tommy Lefroy would be a male solo artist rather than a female duo. However, around 30 seconds into the first song it was evident that this work would be enjoyable. The vocals are nothing short of gorgeous, the instrumentals simultaneously catchy and innovative, and the connection I later found to Jane Austen lore made the duo even more interesting. ... read more

Blxst - Just For Clarity 2
60

Listened to this while studying and it was very good as background music, as I've seen other reviews suggest. A nice little EP with no faults other than it's not enough! They're good songs but none of the four particularly stand out or sound very inspired, will be looking forward to what Blxst has to offer in future

E1 (3x3) - Snakes & Ladders
54

The songs may sound very similar to each other, but that sound is actually decent, and 'Mockingbird' has everything you could want from a guilty pleasure rap song while other highlights include the Tranell feature on 'Hood Politics'. However, will never be able to wrap my head around the casual homophobia instilled within Britain's drill artists (community? who knows) so minus points for that. Admittedly, this release took a visit to genius.com to catch up on the London gang lore, which was ... read more

Meghan Trainor - Takin' It Back (Deluxe)
45

Although a lot of this album is bland, and definitely far too long, it's impossible not to find aspects of fun, freedom and frivolity in Meghan's latest work.
