Porter Robinson - SMILE! :D
90

A glistening set of tracks from Porter Robinson that I wish I got around to listening to sooner. Production is amazing, kick ass synths and the first four tracks are up there for honestly one of the best openings I've heard to an album. A wide range of emotions that will only age better year by year.

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA
90

I'm not exactly disappointed, but I do think the album could of been better. Obviously it's still a great album, but I was expecting something more ambitious from Tyler.

The changes between melodic tracks to the more experimental Hip-Hop tracks is definitely fun but I for sure enjoyed the melodic songs more. Production is amazing on all tracks as per usual and the album closes really well with a strong last 3 tracks. Great album, not Tyler's best work but it's near ... read more

Fontaines D.C. - Romance

Really liked this album. Way more hits than misses, just wished it was longer. The album is so aggressive but also beautiful at the same time. Very nice listen.

Favourite songs : Starburster and Here's the Thing

Least favourite : Motorcycle boy

EDIT (87-75) Grew off me a lil bit felt like this was too high for it. Some forgettable tracks overall

공중도둑 [Mid-Air Thief] - 무너지기 [Crumbling]

This is complete alien music. One of the first times I've listened to an album and been genuinely mesmerised on how this was humanly possible to create. These vibrant soundscapes bring an almost nostalgic feel to the table and are perfectly complimented by Summer Soul and Mid Air Thief's vocals. I could go on all day about this album but I'll keep it short and brief. This album is one of a kind. Hang it in the Louvre.

Sabrina Carpenter - Short n' Sweet
61

Sabrina Carpenter is not in any way unique in the music she creates, but her wacky and funny lyrics spice up the songs as most of them sound the same for me. There is a few pop bangers in here of course but the album can't stay on that level for the most part making these well structured songs feel out of place in the album. Sabrina is definitely capable of making a really solid pop album, but just needs more thought and structure into it.

AUXO. - AUXILIARY

AUXO's first full length LP is very strong and full of very vibrant songs that are extremely uplifting and once again, unique. The production is lush and I MESSED AROUND is one of the best songs I have heard period. Very good album with a really nice album cover too

Favourite songs :
I MESSED AROUND
UR SO LA

ALONE - JUKED

AUXO. - CIRCA

AUXO. needs an introduction first as they are incredibly underrated.

AUXO. is a Producer, Singer and Songwriter duo, best known for their experimental production and engaging stage presence. Based in Saint George Utah, USA, the boys were influenced by Swedish Cloud Rap and UK Drum and Bass, which can be seen in the music they create.

This is the duo's second full length LP and this particular one focuses more on the EDM and rave style of music.

I do NOT know how this duo have not gotten ... read more

Stumbled upon this album through Spotify recommended and I can say it was a pleasant listen. I like the emo boy vibes it's going for and how raw the vocals are although I wish they were louder on some tracks. I think track 9, The Apocalypse Made Me Brave is an incredible song and sort of outshines all the rest of the songs but in a good way. You can definitely tell this was made in the 2000s from the vibes of this album and I dig it, good album.

Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy

This album marked the start of Tyler's winning streak as an artist with an incredibly vibrant album that is feature heavy but all the features do not miss on making their mark on this album. This album has really good replay value and I find myself coming back to listen to some songs on this album quite often. Overall it is a very well made album with an iconic album cover.

Quadeca - I Didn't Mean to Haunt You

An amazing folktronica album with stellar production from Quadeca. His progression is proving to be generational and so unique. I do feel like the Danny Brown feature could have been used better and the album could have been more cohesive and consistent but songs like fantasyworld and tell me a joke make up for it as they are honestly such beautiful songs. Amazing experience

(EDIT 91--93) Idk how I didn't like the Danny Brown feature on first listen, It's been a while since ... read more

Madvillain - Madvillainy
95

This album one of the most iconic Hip-Hop albums and my personal favourite of all time. It's unique in it's amazing supervillian production that feels so badass but chill at the same time. No one has recreated what DOOM and Madlib did on this album and that is why it is a perfect 100.

EDIT (100-95) alright, don't get me wrong this is still a one of a kind album, but I don't really think this album has aged as well as people make it out to be and maybe a FEW tracks could of ... read more

Scubadiver - Yeah 3

UPDATED REVIEW (original review below this one)

Scubadiver somehow created some of the weirdest, yet fun and outstanding pop music with his trilogy of Yeah EPs in Summer 2024, with Yeah 3 being his strongest work to date. 3 songs, all perfect in their own way.

Fast! is one of the catchiest Pop Rap bangers ever, with fantastic production and incredible feature work.

Sunglasses was MY song last summer, the synth work, catchy chorus, the writing of finding comfort in wearing sunglasses, ... read more

Vince Staples - Dark Times

Good album. First full track sets the tone of the album well and although the album doesn't reach the heights of that first song afterwards, it is consistent enough in Vince's pure emotion in all tracks and good lyricism.

Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us
67

I personally don't see the hype as this being one of the albums of the year, I think it does well as a normal Indie album with strong points but can leave me a bit unsatisfied at some parts. For me this album is just a decent Indie album that I would hear on the radio and think not much of it except it was somewhat of an enjoyable experience.

beabadoobee - This Is How Tomorrow Moves
74

It can be a bit boring sometimes but there is good vocal performances on all tracks, lacking a few hit tracks that can stand out on this album and make it a hit but overall nice listen (she is also very good looking so extra points)

Beach House - Bloom
92

This album is exceptional and is near impossible to find any flaws. Myth is one of the greatest opening tracks to an album in music history and Beach House overall mastered the Dream Pop sound they were going for on this album. I got a lot of Cocteau Twins vibes when listening to this, which is obviously a good thing when they are probably the best Dream Pop band of all time.

This album overall is just a masterclass in terms of vocal performances and production and deserves the credit as some ... read more

Björk - Vespertine

WOW. I cannot believe I only got around to listening to this album now.

This is one of the first albums I have listened to where I can FEEL IT. I can feel the roller-coaster of mystical, magical and emotional instrumentals complimented perfectly by Björk's vocals that are simply a masterpiece. What an experience. What an album.

Kanye West - Late Registration

More skits AHHHH, but this is still a Kanye classic with such heartfelt songs like Roses and Hey Mama to songs that bring unreal vibes like Touch The Sky and Crack Music.

Favourite songs :
Roses
Hey Mama
Touch The Sky
Heard 'Em Say

While I do think this album could of been cut down to the parts most necessary, it is still a very good album, with Kanye starting his journey of adding Gospel music into his tracks which sets a great atmosphere for the album.

Saint Pablo
No More Parties In L.A.

Alvvays - Alvvays

One of my favourite albums of all time with such warm vibes and amazing vocal performances on EVERY single track

Yes it is not a MIND blowing album, but each track has the perfect amount of things needed in the song to make it so aesthetically pleasing and not over the top at the same time.

This album has played a huge part in my life as a teenager from consistently listening to it every day and I will always give this album a perfect score for not what it brings to the table, but the ... read more
