Probably should of listened to this album before Forever Howlong as I was expecting this to be just as joyous but I quickly came to the conclusion that this shit crushes the soul. The pure desperation and screeching sound of Isaac Wood's vocals sends shivers down my spine.
The instrumentation is by far the highlight for me, although Isaac's beautiful lyricism is great too. Flutes, sax, great acoustic and piano ballads, this albums got it all and the meticulous arrangement tops it ... read more
Spotify recommended treating me to Daniel Caverly's "The North Combine" which is a multi instrumental indie-art rock album that shows lots of potential for Daniel to grow and hone his craft and make even better music in the future as he is still very young.
What I like most is the piano ballads, layered vocals and unique ambience this album displays, especially in the first track. Tracks like Tornado Song and Awesome! showcase great instrumentals and vocals with some Tyler The ... read more
Just some great indie tunes from the internet loved British band Panchiko.
What I like most is easily the vocals, very soothing, layered and they perfectly compliment the almost psychedelic indie instrumentals. Tracks like Honeycomb and Innocent have some cool twee pop electronic elements too, like something you would hear on a Kero Kero Bonito album and although the second half of the album doesn't stick quite as well as the first, this Panchiko album combines nearly all indie subgenres ... read more
Although sounding a bit tacky and underdeveloped in it's ideas, when Forever Howlong hits its stride, it takes you on a journey. You don't know what's coming next with these brilliant instrumentals and the band does a great job at filling in Isaac Wood's place to create a warm atmosphere of lush production, grand climaxes and great lyricism.
Favourite songs : For the Cold Country and Two Horses.
Least favourite : Mary.
Holy shit it's so good. The AMOUNT of genres you could categorise this album under is INCREDIBLE. There's a mix of chronically online samples, really abrasive dubstep and EDM, trap rage elements, hyperpop and even some slacker rock guitar melodies into the mix to make this crazy and chaotic album so organised at the same time.
The sheer amount of sound in all these tracks, this album is the closest there has ever been to literal dopamine. Jane has really been progressing her sound ... read more
Clean piano ballads, chill atmosphere and soundscapes, although a couple duds in the tracklist and the album lacking a few strong points, this project is an emotional endeavour that brings sadness and the wish for a better ending. RIP Ryan Karazija.
Metal is an awkward genre for me, just one of them genres that I can't get into, everyone has one genre they can't fully get to terms with, and mine is metal. I thought this album might change my opinion but I just can't with the vocals on all of these songs I find it so obnoxious and over the top. I know that's like the whole vibe of metal but I just don't get the vibe and aesthetic of it.
The instrumentals are great though, dare I say incredible but the VOCALLSSS ... read more
I expected a lot better not gonna lie, instrumentally this album is layered well and produced fine, I don't really get why people are calling the production poor it's more of just the bland sound and poor vocals, The album is filled with songs I have heard so many times that just don't move me at all. Grating vocals that could be mixed better with some overall boring delivery. I hear at least 5 songs a year from Eurovision that sound exactly like something you would hear on this ... read more
Weatherday's first album in 6 whole years and it didn't disappoint. There is just overall great production and lead melodies across every track. Everything isn't too over the top, some tracks have dips in and out of hard hitting rock and then chill acoustic and atmospheric interludes which ties everything together and stops it from going too off the rails. Green Tea Seaweed Sea is probably my favourite on here, it starts with a cool folk-electronic ballad and then diverges into a ... read more
Co-founder of Animal Collective Panda Bear creates a fun pop album with intriguing psychedelic elements, especially near the end of the album.
This project starts with a cool and fun indie banger and then slowly starts to get more stripped down as the tracklist goes on, I don't think tracks 3-7 are anything too special but the last three tracks are amazing, there's some great psychedelic low pitched guitars and a trippy atmosphere, Left in the Cold is easily the best track that ... read more
Been known of Saba since Care For Me and the praise that album received, PROM / KING is an all-time rap song with incredible lyricism. I knew when this album dropped I had to give it a listen as I am only familiar with a couple songs from him and yeah this didn't miss.
It starts great and ends great, stays consistent throughout it's 15 track and 41 minute runtime with only a few drops in pace when the shorter tracks come around but those tracks are still great. The flow is what I am ... read more
With the release of Vanisher, Horizon Scraper soon I thought it would be a good time to give Quadeca's From Me To You a try as he is slowly becoming one of my favourite artists with his last two projects and I was yet to give this one a shot.
Unfortunately though, this album isn't on the same level as Scrapyard or IDMTHY, but there is easily glimpses of those projects brilliant ideas on here which showcase Quadeca's unreal progression. Sisyphus is an incredible song with an ... read more
After hearing only a couple songs from her last album through spotify recommended I knew this album had to be on the list of listens and yeah even though I am not a melancholy brunette, I like this album very much.
I really like the orchestral instruments, some great guitar playing and vocals are also really nice. The first track sets the tone perfectly, easily my favourite song on the album with it's great folk and electronic mixture and this album is a perfect listen for the season we ... read more
Parannoul is a name I am familiar with as I really enjoyed Sky Hundred last year and seeing him take a different route and release a noise rock project under a different name definitely intrigued me to give it a listen.
It is crazy how he can release something this high quality under a completely different name, this album is very consistent and keeps me entertained throughout the long tracks which is a hard thing to do, instrumentation and arrangement is incredible as you would expect with a ... read more
This internet loved classic isn't what people make it out to be musically, the electronic aspects are way too harsh at times and leaves me disinterested, it drags on a good bit and if the album was stripped back a bit I probably would've enjoyed it more, I do like this album's aesthetic and vibe, the cover matches the feel of this album too but musically there isn't much in here that I would come back too apart from some amazing tracks here and there like Dsco, which is an ... read more
Being one of the most influential shoegaze albums and the standout project of the genre, "loveless" is amazing and will leave you stunned by it's glistening instrumentals.
Unreal amount of ambition from the Dublin formed band to make something like this, everything just clicks and keeps a great pace throughout, instrumentally it is lush and mixed to perfection, the drums hit, the atmospheric guitars to sooth the ears and the nostalgic lead melodies mixes everything into an ... read more
Playboi Carti doesn't seem to make anything new here.
I am looking through the many mixed reviews of this album today and I can't help but look back on when WLR was released, another album of Playboi Carti's that received mixed reviews on first day, just like this one. The thing that made WLR stand out for me though, was it's creativity, it brought a whole new era to rap and if you are to look at any 2020s underground rapper, they in some way were 100% influenced by Carti ... read more
SCARING THE HOES is quite self explanatory on how the music sounds, some of the samples chosen on here are genius and although the production can be a bit rough and muddy at times, I think that's a good thing as this album is meant to be confrontational and well, scary to the hoes.
I much preferred Peggy on this album than Danny Brown, but they both did a great job but I just think Danny takes awhile to find that rhythm, while it clicks instantly for Peggy.
Although I have seen better ... read more
I think this was the perfect album for me to listen to on a late night road trip staring into the stars.
Ghostholding by Jane Remover's new alias has a really nice aesthetic to it, it sticks to its principles and stays consistent throughout the 13 song tracklist. Great vocals by Jane, really hitting that 2010s emo vibes and the shoegaze guitars belting across my earphones definitely added to the experience.
Overall this album makes me even more excited for Revengeseekerz, coming ... read more
